ken wayne is in the newsroom with the latest on the developing story. >> reporter: the "miami herald" is reporting a woman has been pulled out of the wreckage alive, but there are multiple fatalities. authorities aren't confirming how many people died. doctors say 10 people are hospitalized, two of them in critical condition. more than 100 search-and- rescue crews expect to be on the scene into the night. they are using listening devices to try to detect any signs of life. and they are working carefully because part of the structure is still unsafe. the 950-ton span fell without warning around 1:30 this afternoon. several construction workers were on the bridge and they too had to be rescued. one of them reportedly jumped from this structure and was given cpr. authorities say 8 vehicles are trapped underneath. one witness described seeing the bridge fall on the cars ahead of her. >> i jumped out of my car, locked my car and ran towards the victims to see if i could help anybody. but when i saw -- the only thing you could see were the car lights in the front of the it's totally smashed
