reporter wayne freedman joins us live with the latest. wayne? >> reporter: good evening. this story has changed throughout the day. we haven't had a lot of facts until the last hour, now a better picture of what happened. we still don't noknow the namesf the mother and two children injured in the accident. the little boy was 3 years old. his sister was 6 years old. they're both in the hospital as is their mother. they owe their lives tonight to three good samaritans, three witnesses, who saw this accident, got out of their cars, got into the ravine and pulled these people out after burning vehicle. this was the suv this morning at the bottom of a ravine. when the fire department, a california highway patrol arrived, they found the female driver in very bad shape at the top of the hill 80 feet above. >> she was conscious. she was able to talk to our paramedics on our helicopter a little bit in transit. definitely major. >> reporter: nor was the woman alone in the car. rescuers found her 3-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter on the shoulder of the road. the boy was unconsc

abc 7 news reporter wayne freedman is live for us in the north bay. >> we begin with drew tuma and ak at the hot weather heading our way. drew. >> in just a matter of hours a red flag warning will go into effect for the north bay mountains and east bay hills. our fire risk is increasing tonight. at 9:00 p.m. tonight lasting through wednesday at 11:00 in the morning. wind gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour, that combo of low humidity means fires can easily start and easily spread. look at the fire danger index and it takes into speed wind speed, humidity and temperatures. as we go through the early morning hours of tuesday, tomorrow at 4:00 in the morning, you can see those pops of yellow and orange indicating high to very high fire danger in the north bay mountains and that continues through 10:00 in the morning as well. winds are gusting 30 to 40 miles per hour. then we'll warm up throughout the entire region, not only tomorrow but also wednesday. a heat advisory goes into effect at 11:00 a.m. for much of the bay area. get ready to sweat tuesday and wednesday. we'll take a look at tho

wayne lapierre spoke about how the gun support group would support president trump.that president trump stop the legislative games when it comes to gun control. as cnn has reported, president trump has been flirting with the idea of supporting background checks after those two back-to-back shootings in august. of course, the white house hasn't taken any action yet on any gun legislation. now, the nra is disputing that any exchange was discussed between lapierre and trump, a spokesman for the group saying the nra categorically denies any discussion about arrangements in support of the president and vice versa. but some are speak out against it. the president of a gun control group says their actions in what appears to be an unlawful payback for defending president trump's defense as he faces people shows a level of corruptness in democracy. this is literally taking americans' lives. president trump seemingly backed away from supporting any kind of sweeping background legislation, but white house officials, victor and christi, say they're still looking at taking some k

wayne freedman is live there with the latest. wayne? >> reporter: good afternoon. this is a story still developing. we still do not know the names of the victims yet. there was a woman driver and two adolescents in the back of the car presumably her children went to two separate hospitals. we also know those two kids in the car may owe their lives at this point to three good samaritans who pulled them from the burning wreckage. it remains a miracle mystery even now how the suv stopped rolling and caught fire at the bottom of a ravine and the driver was on top of the hill 80 feet above. >> as best we can tell as the vehicle was rolling she was ejected from the vehicle. she was conscious. she was able to talk to our paramedics on our helicopter. definitely major. >> reporter: there were two kids in the car, presumably her children. one was unconscious. it appears that somebody rescued the kids from inside the burning vehicle but the chp is not saying who. >> anytime you have children involved it brings a different level to the crash. it's a tough one. >> witnesses sa
