wayne freedman is on the scene for us to give us the latest information available. wayne? >> reporter: there's not a lot of latest information. police aren't saying much. let me set the scene for you. 32nd and san pablo. there's a white pick-up truck. one of the two victims the person who was killed, the pedestrian who was hit is in the back of the truck. that is where the body landed after the impact. go further, you can see the brown car on the shoulder with a shattered windshield and door open. that according to police is the car involved in the accident that hit the two pedestrians. the driver is nowhere to be found. after the accident, he reportedly left the scene. police are looking for him at this point. 32nd avenue is blocked off san pablo avenue is blocked off. oakland police are everywhere. it happened at about 3:35 this afternoon. original rumors, original thoughts were the people involved were on a bicycle or they were children. that is not true. they were adults. they were pedestrians. that's all we know right now. san pablo avenue is blocked up. one person de

wayne freedman abc7 news. >> that is good to hear. thank you, wayne. >>> a mother and her children are finally free tonight after being trapped in their car by live power lines. happened in bodega earlier this afternoon as they were heading out to bowl because their power had been knocked out. as they pulled out of the driveway power lines came down and wrapped around their car trapping them inside. >> a safety course put on by the fire department ton get out of the car. the wires started arcing and causing a fire, my children started freaking out a little more. i called 911 to make sure somebody of coming. >> after about an hour pg&e was able to get the power turned off. they all got out safeli. >> powerful winds caused problems around lake tahoe. at some of the peaks winds reached 135 miles per hour. wasn't that strong at lake level, but it was strong enough to to damage to be sure. at least a dozen pine trees came crashing down in lake tahoe like this one you're looking at. one hit two cars and part of a house. >> i was surprised, t

here's abc7 news reporter wayne freedman on how that dramatically could change life in the ocean andwell. >> you might think of it as a liability from past and generations. climbed change manifesting in ever broadening forms. the oceans surrounding us is an example. >> we are committed to a low oxygen future in the ocean. >> this researcher at uc david marine lab. don't suit the messengers. it's another series of dominoes in the climate change game. oxygen levels change and ocean creatures move in reaction to it. in less than one generation, the california fisheries, as we know them could radically change or even cease to exist if oxygenated water moves in. >> had it means we are losing habitat for organisms we care about. >> she advances similar studies. she took core samples from ocean bottoms around the world and studied it. they are like rings from a tree to a scientist. and then changes in ocean oxygen levels took thousands of years to reverse. now she sees the changes again and happening more rapidly due to accelerated manmade conditions. the process is alteady ire irreversible

abc 7 news wayne freedman is live with the story. >> reporter: good evening. you might say this is a case of one demonstration last december, getting another one tonight that begins in about an hour. they'll be marching from berkeley near the campus to where the city council meets behind me. that starts a little bit later. the demonstrators not on their way quite yet. it was a protest against police violence in ferguson one that led to five arrests plus later claims of abuse by protesters and city councilman among others. >> they were met with teargas, with rubber bullets. some were hit by batons. >> reporter: and it was a protest that led to counterclaims by members of the berkeley police department. >> that was an extremely violent crowd. there was a lot of police facing projectiles projectiles. i saw a giant piece of a transmission thrown across the line and land near a bunch of us. there were 25 police officers who were injured in that. to say it was not violent protest would be not true. >> reporter: whatever happened berkeley's city council plans to get
