chief meteorologist bill martin has been tracking the weather conditions. we begin, though, with ken waynenes with how that fire got very close to the command post today. ken? >> reporter: we have some new information for you. we've learned that within the last 90 minutes, the sheriff's deputies have been going door to door in the pine mountain lake area to tell residents that they should evacuate. this is a large resort community. about 2500 people live there. some permanent residents and a lot of vacation homes there. people are being told they should evacuate. it's because of the erratic nature of this fire. you can see smoke hanging over the edges of this facility. this is where the firefight is being coordinated from. we did not have to go find the fire today. here at the command center, the fire came to us. there were tense moments this afternoon as flames bore down on the fire command center. trees lit up just a few yards from dozens of supply vehicles. personnel grabbed protective gear, bracing for the worst. >> we're just trying to put the best plan forward. >> but it's a dicey si
