. >> wbz. >> eric what is next? >> i tell you a lot of folks will be affected by this storm as it continues east, many winter storm warnings and advisory spreading into western parts of mississippi, there will be ice city travel and snowy travel here as we head through the day on monday. then the storm becomes a little bit more about rain in the gulf coast. as this moves along and picks up a lot of moisture, the i-10 corridor, late monday into tuesday, airports like atlanta and charlotte, jackson and new orleans will be the ones to watch, and the i 85 corridor as the rain moves up the coast, wednesday, the big travel day, it is right along the east coast, this is an inside track storm, the center coming very close to new york city, which means it is mainly all rain along the east coast but interior snow, we are watching western new york, western pa in particular and this is where there could be a heavy wet snow, as much as six to 12 inches, the threat there would be bringing downpour lines and trees and certainly pr

for a look at where the storms are headed let's go to meteorologist eric fisher at our boston station wbz. err. >> as we move towards the holiday, travelers in what part of the country should be most worried? >> on the short term this weekend, jim, it's across texas, new mexico, winter storm warning not just for snow but freezing rain that will be coming down. pretty hefty accumulations in the mountains, but it's northwest texas that will really have to watch for the ice on top of that. as we head towards next week, exphnd tuesday, it's the gulf coast, locally heavy rain, especially in the i-10 corridor, airports like atlanta, charlotte, jax sonville, new orleans, expecting those to see delays. then wednesday, the big day, and rain is look likely along the east coast. this could be heavy rain, the 95 corridor, interior snow not out of the question, the exact track still a bit uncertain. it's looking likely we will see big slowdowns on the east coast. >> axelrod: eric fisher with our weather picture, thank you. there was news from london that had a lot of people seeing cleveland. like we s

here's eric fisher chief meteorologist at wbz in boston. >> good morning.e're watching unusual rain for southern california. heavy at that. snow coming down in the mountains. this storm is the one we will be watching throughout the course of the next several days. lots of winter storm watches up to dallas texas. many folks dealing with wintery precipitation. snow totals around the san juan mountains and southwestern colorado, utah. new mexico, 6 to 12 inches of total snow. not just snow moving across texas but ice and sleet will be mixed in. that same storm stops by the gulf of mexico and brings rain to coastal texas, new orleans and biloxi mississippi. you'll be looking at heavy rain to kick off the week. then as we head towards tuesday, that rain towards atlanta, jacksonville and up the east coast. this will be heavy rainfall. could see a couple of inches along the gulf coast in particular. these are some of the airport hubs we will have to watch. tries to turn the corner into wednesday. interior snow possible. this a bit uncertain. it could cause major t

eric fisher, chief meteorologist at our boston station, wbz, has the latest on the holiday storm. >> just 24 hours ago, finally the storm will be out of our hair. it's the same one that brought all that flooding rain to california last week. and now we're watching the northeast corridor. as we go through the morning, the heaviest rain new york city up through boston. along i-95, really difficult travel. not an easy drive whatsoever. to the west, still snow falling western new york, central and northern parts of pennsylvania in particular. slow to move out as we head through the afternoon. still heavy downpours through eastern massachusetts. boston logan will have difficulty with flights. just because of the wind plus the rain that will be coming down. as we head toward the evening, finally this starts to shift offshore. it should be all gone as we head into the overnight. just snow showers left in the mountains of northern new england. for snow totals, up to a foot possible western new york. i think especially from rochester toward buffalo, just west of the finger lakes. that should

eric fisher is our chief meteorologist at the cbs boston station wbz. eric, what does the forecast look like for thanksgiving? >> reporter: margaret, finally improving. the rain and snow sweeping through the northeast after dumping one to four inches of rain but snow way down to the deep south. even atlanta, their third measurable snow in november in the past 83 years leading to some excitement there. they are not alone. the snow pack covers quite a bit of the lower 48. 35.8%. what does that mean? the most snow cover on this date in the past 10 years. so cold weather has been the story. it will be the story for thanksgiving but a lot of sunshine. the west coast, no active weather. below-average temperatures for the central and southern u.s. cold and windy weather in the northeast and snow showers in the great lakes. no major storms, but the cold felt all the way down to the gulf coast. freeze warnings from florida over to texas right along the gulf of mexico margaret. >> brennan: thanks, eric.is me t for obamacare. the administration put off until next

eric fisher, the chief meteorologist at our boston affiliate wbz has an update on the storm. >> the storm has been a headache all the way since last week in heavy rain in southern california. for this morning, we're watching much of the southeast, heavy rainfall in places like atlanta, charlotte. that rain will be stretching up across the appalachians and snow on the back side. now, as we head towards this evening, a pretty fast-moving system, so into washington, d.c. richmond, heavy rainfall here. and reaching into new york city and afternoon and evening. snow places like cleveland, erie, p.a., up towards buffalo and yet into wednesday morning, the heaviest rain will be found in places like new england and boston, portland. we'll be looking at downpours, strong gusty winds up to 50 miles per hour. and snow in eastern new york and upper canada. 3 to 5 inches in the upper appalachians. total for the event in the northeast, widespread 1 to 3. one of the biggest rain events we've seen since all the way back in the summer for many areas. then in terms of snow, mainly western new york and reac

rick fisher, chief meteorologist at our boston station, wbz, is tracking all of it for us.ric, good morning. >> charlie, norah, good morning. a big mess on the east coast. maybe the only saving grace the fact it's a pretty fast-moving storm pap lot of moisture coming up out of the gulf of mexico. this is the first time we've seen a situation like this year. we have that moisture source. you see the snow on the northern end-it. places like atlanta and charlotte, this is where heavier rain will be coming down. by this even it's on the move across virginia so, reagan and dulles. tomorrow morning, the heaviest rain shifts to new york city and up towards boston and hartford, and that's where we really expect delays and wind. total rain is a widespread 1 to 3 inches, a few spots in the appalachians. 3 to 5 inches of total rainfall. this is a pretty good-sized soaking and in terms of the snow, the highest potential western new york, pennsylvania, into ohio, 6 to 12 inches total not out of the question there. charlie, norah? >> eric, thank you. >>> a 44-page report reveals disturbi
