jim smith of our boston station, wbz, has the story. >> reporter: the hour-long high speed chase went through two states. police pursuinging a pickup being driven by 52-year-old richard simone of wooster. it final ended on a dead end street in nashua, new hampshire. simone gets out and appears to be getting down on the ground. police approach, and some officers begin punching him. >> he wasn't putting up a fight. he got out, and they were attacking him. and i don't know what he did. obviously they weren't happy. i mean, he wasn't fighting them. it was a little much i think. >> reporter: he looked like he was surrendering? >> he did. >> reporter: police say simone had assaults for crimes including failure to stop for police and assault. he was involved in a crash but drove on. >> this is a situation where everybody's adrenaline is pumping. >> reporter: analyst ted davis says the arrest needs to be looked at. >> it does appear that he's complying with officers' orders. until they move close to him, there doesn't appear to be a problem. what happened in those last second is going to be c

eric fisher is chief meersologist at our boston station wbz. he is tracking what could become a tropical storm this weekend. eric. >> newly designated, the hurricane hunters went into this system off the eastern seaboard this afternoon and determined we have dropped number 2 which will track off to the west, looks likely to make all of on sunday in the vicinity of charleston. then it will stall out and make the way slowly to the north. if it becomes a tropical storm, it's bonnie, and if you're wondering about the "a" storm, remember we had alex in january. there will be an elviated rip current danger as we head through this holiday weekend. and as this slowly churns its way west, it will bring heavy rainfall eventually to the entire eastern seaboard. memorial day the tropical downpours will be from the mid-atlantic through new england and it could be a slope travel day on monday. >> pauley: indeed, thank you, eric. that debate between republican donald trump and democrat bernie sanders, not going to happen. today, trump called it off saying it

eric fischer, chief meteorologist of our boston station wbz, is following this severe weather system. >> reporter: unfortunately, a deadly day of weather kicked off the week here, especially across the plains. notice a large number of tornado reports. over a dozen of them. what was different between this outbreak and a couple that really didn't live up to maybe the expectations earlier on this season, a strong push of westerly winds. we had more wind shear to work with and some really dramatic tornados that formed. as we look forward, we're watching another area of storms fire up through this afternoon and evening, especially reaching down into texas, as well as over toward the ohio valley. that's our tuesday. another piece of energy is going to swing out on wednesday. we're going to watch those thunderstorms refire across especially parts of the midwest. so our tuesday outlook, from del rio toward austin, this may extend toward dallas. a chance of large hail and isolate ed tornadoes. also keep an eye on the lower ohio river valley. wednesday looks like it's going to be a busier day f

chief meteorologist eric fisher is tracking the storm at our boston station, wbz. eric, what's the latest? >> reporter: well, reena, we have been watching the storm over the course of today, it's still a little bit disorganized. you can see on satellite, a blowup of clouds. all the storms are on one side of it, the center is actually right in here, so all of the nencentration is off to one side. this is a sign of not a m,werhouse system. wind speeds sustained at 40 miles per hour. still a tropical storm, still going to bring a lot of rain, g me gusting winds to the coastline, not what you want to see on a holiday weekend. very slow track, it makes landfall right around charleston late tonight and into sunday, but then it stalls out. so, even as we look towards wednesday, the low center is still on the outer banks. so, we are going to have several days of rain to deal with this system, even as it weakens inland. caopical storm warnings are out rnl out along the south carolina thastline, and some of this toisture will affect all the way up the eastern seaboard. on me
