this is a carefully choreographed appearance by weisselberg.ing to see a lot of surprises here, a lot of aha moments on cross-examination. >> when you talk, though, about it being carefully choreographed, could this trial potentially serve as a fact-finding mission for any future case against trump or more directly the trump organization or trump family or do you think this is a one off? >> well, remember that letitia james has a large, large civil lawsuit, not criminal but civil lawsuit against the trump organization. and the trump individuals as well. and so she could take a lot of the testimony under oath here and use that potentially in her civil case. now, she knows a lot about what is going on because she has prosecutors working with the d.a. on this very case. again, what happens under oath at trial is sometimes a little bit different from what you've heard before. yes, there are ramifications. and there are also ramifications for other jurisdictions. they will hear many for the first time, testimony under oath, that is going to be testi

now weisselberg has pled guilty and agreed to testify against the company. so, the stakes here for the company, the person who knew it's finances best it's going to testify against them. again that said, a company cannot go to jail, so we are looking at some financial come penalties at worse if they lose this case. >> so do you really think that weisselberg is going to testify against trump? you've been covering him for years. weisselberg has not just worked for donald trump four years, he worked for fred trump. he is closer to this family than, probably some of the children at different times in their lives. do you really think that he is going to turn on trump? >> i do not think that he would see himself turning on donald trump in this case. i think he would say that it is the company, not turning on trump. that said, there is a president for at weisselberg offering damaging trump. remember trump's nonprofit, that we talked about in 2016. a lot of that was damning presidents against his nonprofit and the way trump used, it came from weisselberg. again, in

it doesn't really behoove the trump organization to alienate allen weisselberg but they've chosen to go that route and i think it suggests they understand how damaging he could be. he's the wildcard in all of this. i think, you know, cy vance, alvin bragg's predecessor, left alvin bragg a gigantic problem and headache he should have resolved before he left office because the manhattan's d.a.'s own lawyers were divided whether to indict donald trump. they weren't sure -- there was a faction in the office that believed they had the evidence and another faction that didn't. brad has backed away from that. they've indicted the trump organization and the business and they've, obviously, indicted allen weisselberg. trump himself is not at risk here. i don't think the organization now is at the kind of risk it's going to be in the new york attorney general's case which i think is an authentically existential risk to the trump organization. but allen weisselberg is just a humongous wild card because he knows things that go beyond what is in the purview of the court, financial fraud or sketch
