so clearly the markets believe that no death charge blow was landed except possibly by wendy deng. . >> how much pressure were you under when you edited these newspapers in london to get the scoop, to get the big story and to do whatever it took to get that story? >> huge pressure. and i detail that in my book as well. you know, when you're an editor of a british tabloid newspaper, you're in a commercial war and you're encouraged to be aggressive, forceful, to pursue stories with the full mite of your reporting army. but most news organizations are the same. rupert murdoch's happened to be more successful than most over the years. the king for me listening to murdoch, a lot of what he said resonated. people may be bemused by what he said, but when he says he didn't have much day to day contact with these papers, that's true. i spoke to the editors of "news of the world" maybe once a week, once every two weeks. he didn't ask me about methodologies of stories. he would say what's going on and you told him what stories. i had editors, i have managers, i have lawyers, i have accountants.

so we want to take a closer look at wendi deng murdoch. in china roughly half of his age and may not surprise you she was once a very good volleyball player. linda lu of "newsweek" and the daily beast profiled her in the article crouching tiger and flying murdoch. obviously, this woman is no wallflower. but she is pretty accomplished in her own right. i mean, yale is just one example. >> reporter: she's very tough. she's very intelligent. she's as ruthless as any of the murdochs. i think she is someone one should not underestimate. >> just to give a little context, they met, i believe was it a party in hong kong? she was actually working for the tycoon? >> reporter: right. she was -- she managed an internship after graduating from yale. at star tv which is the sort of flagship murdoch's flagship in greater china and she great crashed one of their annual parties where he was there and that was apparently their first meeting which was relatively brief, but, obviously, very meshlable because then she was his translator in china and hong kong.
