welcome everyone to "christian world news" i am wendy griffith. george thomas is on assignment. sunday november 13th is the international day of prayer for the persecuted church. christians all over the world will ask god to help those suffering for christ. one such nation is the west african country of nigeria. places of worship are burned and christians killed simply for believing in jesus. gary lane has more. >> reporter: as christians around the world gather to pray for their persecuted brothers and sisters in christ, open doors president carl muller says it is important to know how to pray for them. >> they don't ask that persecution would stop. they pray instead they would be strong in the midst of persecution and empower them to be bold witnesses. >> one country particular in concern is nigeria. more than 2,000 christians killed last year in clashes with muslim extremists in northern nigerian states. they were killed by boko haram in borno and yobe states. several churches destroyed. several others bombed this past summer. >> boko haram is another one of these extremist o

wendy griffith and george thomas are on assignment. america's roman catholic bishops say people of faith are being marginalized in the united states. it is forming an office for religious liberty. a group contends gay rights and abortion rights are given more importance than religious rights. adoption battles in illinois and pro-life conflicts with president obama's health care law. bishop lorri is the leader. >> increasing signs that people that try to bring religious convictions into the public square are being marginalized. those that run educational services according to their religious convictions are being delimb at a timed by new bureaucratic rules. >> increasing secularism is influencing policies. the non profit law firm that defends religious rights, luke, religious freedom is a bedrock of the religious freedom. the catholic office says they need a new office to protect their rights. what is going on? >> several new threats to religious liberty. two of the main areas come from fundamental conflict between long-standing protect

. >> and i am wendy griffith. asia bibi is a wife and mother and a christian in jail sentenced to death for blasphemying the prophet mohammed. believers around the world are taking action on her behalf. gary lane traveled to pakistan and brings us this exclusive interview with asia's husband and children. >> 10-year-old e sham and her sister play a popular pakistani board game with their father. one important part of their family game night is missing, their mother, asia bibi. she hasn't played with her daughters for two years. she is confined to a prison cell awaiting possible death. she was arrested in june 2009. she was accused of insulting the prophet mohammed and arrested soon after. a low cool judge found her guilty and sentenced her to death by hanging. cbn news talked to her husband. >> how has this effected your faith? >> i was strong in my faith before this incident. after the incident, i am more encouraged. in my name you will face persecution. people will blame you and curse you. we are facing that. as
