that means everybody is back to work and our elizabeth wenger is a busy lady today. >> it's back to school this week. you can tell really everyone kind of finally back in class because our drive times have been longer, the commutes are starting earlier. at the bay bridge, no exception. it's already stacked up to the maze and it's only 6:03. they turned the metering lights on at 5:44. we also had a fender-bender right before they switched the metering lights on so that didn't help the commute. anyway, it's busy trying to get into san francisco. now, i didn't have a chance to update this map. within the last couple of minutes they reopened one lane so one lane is now open northbound highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains approaching laurel road. but a member of the "kcbs phone force" called and said up to 12 cars may be involved in the accident. very slow, delays 30 minutes or more backed up from at least vine hill and it's slow past the accident scene to the summit. that's your latest "kcbs" drive to work. for your latest forecast, here's roberta. >>> it's june gloom in september. good morn

to tell you more about what's going on with the traffic situation this morning, we have elizabeth wenger with traffic. elizabeth, what do we need to tell them out here today? >> slow down! and watch out for roberta at the toll plaza. you don't want to hit her, either. there's some puddling in those middle lanes actually. you may have seen that in roberta's shot with splashing in the shots. we have a lot of flooding reports coming out. the worst of it is the central freeway and skyway on the other side of the bridge in san francisco. here's a live look at 880 in oakland. you can see the rain coming down northbound and southbound 880 looking okay near the oakland coliseum. again, accident involving a tanker truck and car this time westbound 980 at 880. chp says there's a lot of standing water in the road so that obviously did not help the commute in that area. they are working to clear that accident. here's anothering anful another angle of the bay bridge toll plaza. no big wait and no metering lights yet. so we have seen i think two or three accidents now on the other side westbound 80 ri

a little traffic, a little weather and we begin with liz wenger. how are we doing? >> it is getaway friday and we have better news now for highway 50. it has officially reopened this morning near pollock pines. it was closed completely shut down both directions near icehouse and sly park but they were able to re-open lanes even though some of the reporters say because of the fire and smoke it looks like thick fog if you are traveling. so use caution and they still may close lanes intermittently. so heads up if you are traveling and heading out of town for the weekend. otherwise, our travel times look okay right now. some incidents out the door, westbound 580 we had a couple of accidents at grant line, both of them now clear slowing from tracy really continuing all the way to the livermore valley. 101 along the peninsula looks good. some drivers reporting some misty conditions along the golden gate bridge. 101 near sausalito. 24 clear from walnut creek all the way into orinda and heading toward the caldecott tunnel. here's some drive times for you. westbound 580 alta
