there's a well defined snow line west of interstate 95. that's where the rain/snow line is going to stay for much of the day. the ground is white now up towards maryland. white ground for sure. several inches-snow has added up towards the blue ridge. the end of the precipitation is now in far southwestern virginia. we'll be keeping a close eye on this through the remainder of the day. total snow accumulation potentials today. as much as six to nine inches in a few spots west of interstate 81. about four to six inches on average. that stretch will go up to parts of northern frederick county as well. two to four inches central and northern montgomery county out towards dulles airport. maybe an inch on the grass. the closer to the metro area and down into portions of southern maryland and along the bay side, not much if anything on the way of accumulations. roadbeds are warm, the snow will come down hard enough to cover the roads and make them slushy for a time. temperatures below freezing could make a slippery start first thing tomorrow morn

by 7:00 snowing in the mountains of western virginia and west virginia out toward areas west of the valleyhat will be moving up towards western maryland tonight. one thing i think this model is not doing too well, i think the cold is a little bit deeper, this blue could be here, this pink could be here by tomorrow morning. and then the quicker the changeover that occurs in places like fredrick, up in montgomery or leesburg, that means you'll see more snow. likely staying all snow areas fredrick west and even tomorrow afternoon we're going to see some of that start to switch over. again, i think the blue will be a little bit farther east and the blue is all snow. by 6:00 it's approaching d.c. and end for a little while and then start to pull out tomorrow night. there's a lot of rain with this, a lot of moisture, low- level moisture. we're talking several inches here, two to three plus, maybe more along the jersey coast, but this is going to be snow likely so that could be very heavy amounts there with rain changing to snow north and west. i gotta show you the snow totals one more time. a tr

rain to the west. and rain to the south to virginia tonight. and moving into our region, probably between 3:00 and 6:00 in the morning. probably most of us going to work. 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 a.m. we'll be dealing with rain. rain to the west. this system, the low pressure associated with this is going to be moving through ohio, up toward cleveland and buffalo. so the bulk of that rain will be to the west. the other low pressure that we have been watching, causing still a lot of rain in south florida. they have a tornado watch. all of south florida now. pretty good showers down there. that's going to move off the coast, towards savannah and charleston. and eventually up to new england. the bulk of that rain will be to our we have the. -- our east. in between, we're caught between two systems over central maryland at least. so we're not looking for heavy amounts of rain. we'll see rain tonight, probably in the morning. much moves up. looking more like a half inch, rather than 1, 2, 3 inches of rain. heaviest

however, to the west and maybe just to the west, you folks probably will have enough for those things. you can see the clouds have made their way in here. we are starting to see the storm system affect the area. you can see the clouds. no rain now across the region. you can see rain picking up here on the radar. this is not reaching the ground yet back toward winchester to the south of warrenton and fredericksburg. it's going to fill in for the next couple hours. you can see what i'm talking ability. all this moisture moving our way. it's snowing in west virginia and portions of virginia where we are seeing snow and we are going to see heavy snow in this area as the storm system gets going. believe it or not, the coastal storm hasn't developed, yet. it's just starting to show signs of development and eventually going to make its way up the coast. for us, 49 degrees is the temperature. winds out of the east-southeast at 7 miles per hour. 46 in hagerstown. 45 in charlottesville. stanton, the temperature there is 43 degrees. as we widen out, notice where the colder air is, elkins, west v

out in the west, mid to lower 30's. as far as the rest of the day is concerned, depending on where you live, snow will be greater in some areas, less in others. rain then snow. those areas getting more snow north and west of the city. winds strong at 15 to 20 miles per hour. gusts up to 35 miles per hour. these temperatures will be cold, 35 to 39 degrees. our current weather now shows a mass of moisture in the area as the lows are making their way up the eastern seaboard. you can see that rain-snow line. the higher elevations getting all the snow. the lower elevations getting all rain. once these move up the eastern seaboard and winds witch out of the northwest, canadian air pushes the wind in. that gives us better chances of seeing snow in the greater baltimore area. anywhere from a trace to $2 inches in the area associated with the storm. there will be more as you go out west and up north into pennsylvania. futurecast again tells the same story as rain pretty much all day. then around 6:00 we see our best chance of wi
