i actually grew up partially in pakistan, at the base of the highway leading to the wild west of china, and near the disputed border of india. so, this is an area i've been interested in for a long time. did a lot of work at the state department, mostly on india, some on chinese, and increasingly as i watched -- now, of course, we do business in both places for our clients, and as i see the public discourse in america about asia, it seems we're so worry evidence about china and there's so much about china, and one day they're ten feet tall and coming to get us and the next day they're the doom dragon and their economy is collapsing, or in of which is quite rite. there's very little public discourse about india, and i believe even now, but especially a decade or more from now, these are the two countries that will have a dramatic impact on how we all live as americans. by then they will have three billion people between them, so our company will be selling to them. they'll have the world's largest middle classes, and we can even begin to solve the world's biggest problems without them.

if we follow that front back to the west, much of eastern china, you'll be looking at more rainfall, especially in the shanghai. scattered showers throughout the day on your thursday. high of 32. seoul, hot there, 31, partly cloudy skies. you're staying north of that front. if we look further back here towards the west, still got showers there into the bangkok area, northwest monsoon continuing to dominate. that's really the big topic across much of india as well. scattered showers out here. it's really been concentrated in central india. you have to remember, the past several years, it's been exceptionally dry out here. the monsoon not nearly strong as normal. so farmers overall are happy about this. but too much concentrated, i'll show you video coming out of the smack middle of this heaviest precipitation here in central india where we have been seeing severe flooding. 22 casualties have been reported in this area. 70,000 people have been left homeless. so it is definitely catastrophic. flooding not only damaging homes, but wide swaths of crop, you can see the dams overflowing the

china. here's a look at the stats for this particular system. it is moving to the west/northwest holding winds at 144 gusting to 198. the pressure is up to 960 and this system is expected to deteriorate a little bit fast as we go through our saturday. saturday afternoon we're expecting a severe tropical storm then a tropical storm by sunday afternoon. nevertheless, it's still bringing a lot of rain with it. we're concerned about that because if we look at the rainfall accumulation for the past seven days, we're seeing some areas along the yangtze river basin receiving close to 500 millimeters and other spots more than that over that time period. also not just that, but even areas south of there we saw areas wiwith 300 millimeters of rainfall. so flooding concerns continue to be a big partt of the story. we expect this moisture to continue to move its way. looks like it'ss more minimal i ththis perspective. but it is expected for the southerly flow to really impact the general region as we go forward in time. that's not the only area receiving a lot of rainfall. because
