right now it is flooding like crazy in west central cuba. towns are already swelling. they're already going to see 8 to 10, 15 inches of rain. we're not going to see that. we have been watching elsa since 30. it was a hurricane in the caribbean. but the shift -- track has been shifting west ward, which is good. land fall wednesday morning. north up around cedar key or just north of that. this is not going to become a hurricane. but there is still a risk. the surf now, we're looking at the storm surge up to 5 feet. heavier rain fall will be on that side. the winds will stay away from surf side. this is still where they're sustained. it doesn't mean they will not see gusts. that's the issue. the probably is offshore for the stronger winds, but it is not zero. as mentioned, at 3:30 this afternoon, thunderstorms moved in on the site. that's the fear going forward. it's not so much the strong winds that you will see at 60 miles an hour on the keys or 40 to 50 on the west coast, but the chance of rain fall. i want to show you a radar forecast. it is the outer bands that will

cuba. so, it's 85 miles east of kingston, jamaica. winds are moving at the west northwest at 40 miles per hour. that's a big slowing down compared to yesterday. it was flying yesterday at 35 one miles per hour. so it did slow down. then this is the track. cuban it will be impacting today. into tonight, the early parts of monday, this is really going to determine what happens over the next three days. as it moves over those mountains of cuba, it is going to weaken, that's pretty certain. and it is going to emerge into the gulf, very warm this time of year. so, we could see it strengthening. we could see it even being upgraded to a hurricane. we're going to watch that very closely over the next 24 hours. i stopped the clock here because notice where we expect this landfall. on the western portion of the state. so, somewhere around tampa. again, still uncertain at this hour. that will happen sometime tuesday and wednesday. i think the big takeaway here is we are looking at rain certainly in florida. we are looking at wind. those will be the biggest impacts. today, t

it's moving west northwest 13 miles an hour from kingston, jamaica. it's going to go over cuba tonight into tomorrow morning. that's going to determine what happens with the storm the next 24 hours. we could see it weaken once again. it will merge into the gulf and strength en. we expect it to stay a tropical storm. we see winds into key west. as early as tomorrow morning we could see the winds in southern florida. as we go tuesday into wednesday, that's when we expect landfall somewhere along the west coast, most likely near tampa. we have tropical storm warnings for key west, a tropical storm west that includes naples, and involved in those alerts. that's the story the next several days regardless of where they set up, southern florida, excuse me, all under the gun for these winds, also for heavy rain. so this is what we can expect for today, that heavy rain for cuba, increasing winds in florida, and then monday, this is where it begins or florida. elsa begins to approach the keys. we're going to see it strengthen possibly over the warm gulf waters. winds, rough surf, we coul

as it does so, it's going to pass by cuba -- excuse me -- pass by key west and it's going to stay justest, just offshore of the west coast of florida. even though it's going to stay off the west coast, that doesn't mean we're not going to feel impacts. as you can see already, we're already feeling impacts across south florida. and as it takes this journey, what's on the right side is all the thunderstorm activity, and that's going to line up right on top of the peninsula as it takes this track. so we are looking at some really active weather over the next 24 to 48 hours. landfall is expected to be up there near cedar key. you can see all the thunderstorms across the peninsula of florida on tuesday evening. you can see it finally makes landfall come wednesday morning around sunrise. we continue to see that tail of thunderstorm activity all the way down the peninsula. so we could see extremely heavy rainfall, especially along the west coast. this is where we could have flash flooding. on top of this, about six inches of rainfall in some spots. storm surge of five feet near tampa. as thes
