. chanting in the west midlands. polly. patrick >> thank you. we start with some breaking news. the prime minister says his thoughts are with the family of the eight year old little girl who died this morning after a land rover crashed into a primary school in wimbledon in south west london. police were called to the scene just before 10:00 this morning. the school concerned is called the study prep school . and 16 the study prep school. and 16 people had to be treated at the scene. ten more were taken to hospital by hospital . ambulance hospital by hospital. ambulance helicop after ambulance, i should say. police are saying the driver in this case is a woman in her 40s. she's been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and detective chief superintendent claire kellan's voice broke with emotion as she reported. what happened this morning . officers, happened this morning. officers, along with colleagues from other emergency services, provided first aid to a number of people who had been injured .

it was a very thundery start to the weekend, and particularly so across parts of the west midlands intoriod. part two of the weekend looks a little bit better. there will be sunny spells around, but further showers too, low pressure always close by, and these weather fronts, which will continue to generate these showers and thunderstorms. now, we start sunday off on a bright note, plenty of sunshine. that's the overnight rain — thundery in places, clearing northwards, so it could be quite wet in 0rkney all day. an area of rain, some of it thundery, could affect east anglia and the southeast for a time through the morning. then that clears into the afternoon, and then it's sunny spells, scattered showers. most of these, northern ireland, wales and western england. now, it's going to be a cooler, fresher day across the board. top temperature around 23 degrees in the southeast. so we could have some disruption at wimbledon for that early rain. but then, into the afternoon, it does look like conditions will improve, with increasing amounts of sunshine. so as you move into sunday evening, mo

but longer spells of rain that's in wales will gradually transfer north west midlands and in the afternoongoing. certainly winds freshening up a little bit. but whilst you've got the sunshine out and fewer showers, east anglia south east could see temperatures higher than today. elsewhere, roughly on paths, we're feeling cooler where that rain is falling. the rain fizzles into more showery conditions through monday night to the north. but in the south, more persistent rain returns wales and across central and southern england to take us into tuesday. that may be slow to clear the south east corner on tuesday. other than that, it's back to sunshine, heavy and thundery showers, most frequent during the afternoon in scotland, northern ireland and the north of england. bit of sunshine in between, but temperatures starting to drop, winds going more west to north westerly and that temperature drop will continue further through the second half of the week as our low pressure pushes its way off towards norway. winds going to a more north or north westerly direction, especially for scotland for a t
