last night in oakland, protesters shut down the west oakland b.a.r.t. station for a short period of time. the station did reopen just before 11:00. there were reports of damage to at least one business on broadway. protesters made their way on to 880 blocking traffic. police were able to keep the group moving. a few hundred people were protesting on the streets all in response to the grand jury decisions in new york city and ferguson, missouri, not to indict police officers in the deaths of eric garner and michael brown. last night's protests were the third this week. >>> "rolling stone" is the target of outrage this morning. the magazine published an article about a sexual assault on a college campus. now it says it can't trust the woman who shared those details. the manage published the woman's story about being raped at a fraternity party at the university of virginia in 2012. the magazine has since back-pedalled, admitting it didn't ask the fraternity for its account. the group denied involvement and the magazine turned on the alleged victim. a sexu

the congresswoman represents the district where the west oakland po postal facility is located.was there in august when a postal worker collapsed at work. it's unclear what happened but co-workers found him on the ground bleeding and suffering from a serious head injury. instead of calling 911 right away, they followed the postal service policy. they called supervisors and managers who then called the on-site postal police. up to 53 minutes passed between the time sam was found and 911 was finally called. our investigation later found a history of similar incidents in west oakland and union grievances filed with the national usps about delays in medical care. we uncovered documents showing the postal service knew about employee concerns since at least 2005, and the agency did nothing to change its medical emergency procedures. congresswoman lee called sam's wife of 25 years to express her condolences in a statement representative lee said, my thoughts and prayers are with the family. access to medical treatment is critical and i have communicated with the usps on this matter." h

the postal processing and distribution center in west oakland. it's where he operated a letter sorting machine on the overnight shift. >> he worked there for 20 years. very dedicated, very honest. everybody loved him. >> reporter: no one saw what happened. but on august 8th, coworkers found sam lying on his back with blood coming from his mouth and ears. down from an apparent head injury. as we've learned from an internal post office investigation, employees reported finding sam between 3:00 and 3:30 in the morning. but dispatch records show the first 911 call didn't come in until 3:53. >> hi, medical, is this an emergency? >> 1657 7th street, the main post office. we have an employee bleeding from the mouth. >> reporter: according to the report, when the first employee found sam, he called out to another worker who contacted his supervisor. at the same time, an employee found her supervisor who told her to find a manager. the supervisor assessed sam, waited for other management, and then called the postal police and asked them to call 911. that

chained themselves to the station in west oakland. as you can see there, they use ed duct tape and bike locks. they wore t-shirts that said black lives matter. those protests in oakland led local officials to close down that station for two hours on friday. obviously, that caused big system-wide delairs. demonstrations began on friday in san francisco downtown to union square and then tried to work their way into the annual tree-lighting ceremony at union square. police say they did stop the demonstrators from reaching the tree lighting ceremony. they moved the group down to markt street. in san francisco, some of those protests did turn violence. several businesses were vandalized. there were some reports of broken windows, some bottles and rocks thrown. several arrests made at night in san francisco on friday. also, in chicago, about 200 people who marched from the city's magnificent mile shopping district in the afternoon. they marched from there and that was described as a day of awareness and engagement from chicago. about half of

friday night, protesters forced the west oakland guard station to close for a short time. it stopped train service. hundreds of protesters briefly shut down interstate 880. one person was arrested at that time. >>> around the world people are gathering over the grand jury's decision over eric garner's death. in fact in paris, protesters took to the trokadara. people from all over the world came to the tourist area to show their support. others held a die-in in atlanta. on the west coast people chanted down hollywood boulevard. >>> associated press is reporting the police cause the death of over one person a day. they say at least 400 people are killed by the police in the u.s. each year. when the cases are brought to a grand jury, they almost always decide the officer hasn't committed a crime. grand jurors decide to indict it's usually because they find the officers lied, used excessive force or instigated confrontation. they found the jurors are willing to give officer the benefit of the doubt unless they find officers are using violence for retribution. >> police are loo
