at 1:30 phoenix police responded to what was a home invasion out at 64th avenue and avalon in west phoenix. >> sergeant vince lewis with the phoenix police department says four people were detained at that scene. one of them a suspect in the break-in. three others were the home taken in on a separate investigation. the second suspect in the break-in made a run for it. >> you guys are able to track him where? >> to another location near second and jones and then that's when the suspect made it inside of a home and the officers put tire spikes behind the car. the suspect made it back to the vehicle and left that location. >> at that point the suspect took off again. driving down the i-17 causing a shut down for hours. >> that's when the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree. the suspect got out of the vehicle and ran on foot eastbound along the fence line followed by three officers. the suspect then turned to present a firearm at those officers. the officers perceiving a threat for their own lives and each other one sergeant shot the suspect and ended the threat. >> the

that line west of y arizona is not moving to the phoenix metro. it will track to the west in yuma county this morning. and more widespread showers, and that's where the main impact will be today. looks like new 72 is going to move in as a tropical storm or transitioning into a tropical depression. if it does move in as a tropical storm. that would be the 6th tropical storm to ever arizona. so far, we've only had five tropical storms move into our state in our history. so we're going to be watching closely. it's going to come close. it looks like it's going to stay a tropical storm until after it crosses the border. and then it loses strength and becomes an area of low pressure. the main track is in southeast arizona and the heaviest rain low, as we go through the morning hours and into the afternoon. a chance for rain through the morning with slight chances for thunderstorms as we go into this afternoon. not to say we can't get pockets of heavier rain, but the main impact will be in areas to the southeast. temperature-wise, temperature cooler becau

police phoenix police - shoot and kill a man overnight.this happening near 36th street and thomas...team 12's bryan west is live right now with the details of how this happened. still an active investigation 6 hours after the shooting. we have two mobile command units out here. 37th phoenix police tell us around 4 in the afternoon yesterday officers came to an apartment complex here - one woman says her son was acting strangely. described him as psychotic and threatening people with a large sword. the man left. officers noticed he had an outstanding arrest warrant and they searched the area for an hour. then at ten last night the mom called back and said her son was back at the complex in a different apartment. she claimed he assaulted a man. officers came and set up a perimeter. for an with the large sword tied to his hand and came after officers. phoenix police say they tried to subdue him with tasers and stun bag rounds. when that failed they shot him. a witness standing next to the mom describes watching the shooting. the man died here on the scene. the five officers involved now being interviewed b
