campaign because we have seen now the time, particularly the outbound time from embarcadero to west portal creep back up to that 22 minutes where we would like it to be closer to 20, if not 19. some of the major things that we did accomplish with the focus on the subway was transitioning to the transportation management centre, i think it continues to pay off. we implemented some additional support to manage traffic and we are also going to be presenting today some additional traffic modifications in the a.m., which would complement those parking control officers. we also inspected 130 of the couplers in an effort to reduce the number of breakdowns we were having. anywhere in the system is problematic, but particularly when the breakdowns happen in the subway. they really create problems that propagate through the entire day so as i think through this work and where we are going with this next 90 day plan, a lot of our priorities are not going to change. we're going to continue to focus on safety, we will continue to focus on service reliability, subway performance, and then i am going to

the next meeting, the 21st of may, we anticipate bringing before you a west portal pilot idea, as well as a 54 felton realignment. and then later in the spring and probably early summer, we have several other service-related projects that we want to bring forward to this board for consideration. mostly about extending connections, making new connections, once again, making the system easier to use, and really being able to replace the car with a transit trip. this slide was already really shown in the map slide, when we talked about what we're going to be doing next priority-wise. i wanted to highlight some of the major corridors where we plan to launch into outreach over the next year or so. one i didn't mention was church street. in the map, i neglected to mention that. we are working with the idea of some really kind of quick-hit projects along the "j" to improve "j" service, and make that service work a little better. and the future of moving forward, we, over the next several years, are going to continue to put both moving forward and equity strategy principles in our service plan

in general, west portal has a pretty good safety record, and everybody treats the intersection cautiously because it is relatively complex. also, i think it is worth noting that the 48 comes every ten minutes, so it's not like a constant stream of pedestrians at that conflict point, and then related to the idea of putting the 48 in the half-circle, the station, which is currently the terminal of 57, one of the concerns with that is that, essentially, a big source of delay right now in that area is the number of pedestrians going into the station. that big half-circle kind of functions as a free-for-all, and it functions like a giant scramble right now. the more we are able to put pedestrians in a channel to use a walkway area to get into the station, the better we would be able to manage that source of delay. in an ideal world, we would get the 57 out of there as well, perhaps at the face two of this. there is also a limitation in that there's not much room for another bus there. >> okay. and the reason why you're focused on folks transferring from inbound is because we're talking about 6
