i was reading about texas football and the power. i drove out westin the mid-1980s and that's when the subconscious rose to the underpinnings and the outlining of the book began to take shape. i took the southern route so you go to the high school football country georgia, alabama, mississippi, louisiana and then ultimately texas. main street was dark and a lot of stores were not there. there wasn't much there but you can get a few blocks out and you would see that. beautiful. really beautiful. water to the hill even if there was a drought. everyone wants to believe in something and hope for something and look forward to something and i simply knew high school football in many towns in texas and across this country to be it at basketball in indiana and hockey in minnesota we are all looking for something to believe in and i became convinced that in many towns high school football is it. it's a very unique and powerful culture. 16, 17, 18-year-old kids who 99 times out of 100 are not playing for college scholarships they are paying for the town and th
