now wti, this is not a stock, this is west texas intermediate, it's oil, it's below $90 a barrel. this is more good news. president biden will sign that big climate and health care bill today. we'll talk more about that, as we talk politics, but included in that bill is a new tax on stock buy-backs. stock buy-backs very popular here in silicon valley. apple and google do it all the time. when a company like apple has extra money, it purchases its own stock from the open market. now a company can't have stock in itself, so those shares disappear like they were torn up. that makes other shares worth more, so it's a great way of boosting your stock price but critics say it doesn't create anything. the hope is by putting a new tax on stock buybacks, companies might go i have that extra money to shareholders in a dividend or fund more research and development. speaking of apple, it's once again setting a new deadline to return to work september 5th. apple wants people back three days a week. apple and other companies, but mostly apple have set and reset back-to-work dates only to reset

west texas intermediate hit intraday low, 87.55.nce at the beginning of the year, then it was support. you have got a lot of folks who say the crude oil play is done. what are you seeing with respect to oil because i think there is one more leg to the upside to retest the high at some point? >> our feel is it is slowing, it is not ending. it would be historically unprecedented to continue the rise it had been in through the first part of the year. we think it is transitioning more of a range. the issue is, that our feel is that a lot of these inflationary reads are subsiding. interest rates arep toing. commodity prices are topping and probably oil has as well. equities look great. as much as they're losing attractiveness as and inflation hedge they still score well for us. so i would be keen on the equity part of the sector here. it will not be the same everything, energy rally we saw in the first year but if you look at, i think for a stock-picker, if you look at a name like cheniere energy breaking out to the upside here i think t

we saw west texas intermediate down some 3%. and in asia, losses extending down to about $88. that is almost a six month low. as mentioned at the top of the show, iran has signaled a nuclear deal could be just around the corner if the right guarantees are made. the prospect of more oil in the market is weighing on price in addition to demand concerns coming out of china. you are looking at the bloomberg terminal. it shows us oil has broken down below key support. one energy trader said most traders are now looking at more oil on the market. $80 could be the new support. there is a lot of recalculation going on. we are really seeing where china's economy is, and to quote one analyst, it is a lot less rosy. haidi: not so rosy for copper, and a lot of commodities on the back of the weakness in china's economy. su: yeah, china a giant when it comes to a consumer of metals and they were hit hard as well. iron ore down 3% and copper down over 2% at one point. gold also showing weakness. demand is a big issue, again, also the outlook. bhp group, as we just heard in the past hour, has
