i was in west texas, i'd walked from new orleans all the way to west, texas. i hate it. i wanted to quit. and we were on this ranch, this dry farmer's ranch. it was a wheat ranch, an old couple. they didn't have any they did not have children. homer and ruby were their names and they lived out in west texas and we stayed at their ranch for a couple of days, got a bath, slept in a bed, had good food, a big tornado. one night. anyway, it was time to leave. peter pulled out a map of, the usa and we were just in texas. and i had to walk all the way to oregon and it was overwhelming. it one of those moments of like, oh dear god, i cannot do this. i didn't want do it. well, there seems to be a theme here. it's like i won't do anything. and yet and, yet here we are. so anyway, ruby, this rancher woman, she had come to texas in a covered wagon, the oldest of 13 children. they were so they lived in tents and ate water, gravy. she said to me that night she could tell i was upset and she wanted to know what wrong with me. and i. i kind of confessed that i just didn't think i could

quail country, everything here sits on top of the permian basin and oil field that stretches from west texas to new mexico. the. there's a bunch of old oil equipment here because the texas has been at the center of the us oil booms for decades. and all of these behind me are old drilling rigs. they did back to the 1920s, did the 1st step invoice extraction, drilling and well, then come to pops there. sometimes we can go look at over there actually. so when they 1st oil, it basically explodes out of the grounds due to changes and pressure. but after a while, it doesn't really explode so much anymore, and you have to actually pump these are the ponds to do exactly that. but it's not a simple process to hear more about it. we spoke to brian grant, the executive director, the oil is actually trapped with in layers of rocks that are in these different layers strata. so we have to not only drill but then we have to crack the rock. people have been cracking the rock to get that oil for more than a century, mostly with explosives. and after that, they're going to inject the sand that will hold the f

you know, the oil market, at least west texas intermediate oil, it hasn't made the move i think manytical shocks have happened and just hasn't moved the needle. china had stimulus packages. what's going to move the needle for oil? >> massive mistake to think chevron should be linked to the price of oil. they make more money at 70 than 90 and 90 you get demand erosion. 70 is -- charles: sweet spot. no pun intended. >> yeah. the permian basin is making tons of money at 70 and tons of consumption. 90 you erode demand so these big oil companies and chevron did it with hess, that deal closes next year, and nobel in the middle of covid. they bought competition. they bought market share on the cheap and those things come back to benefit the way exxon did with mobile. these are major m&a players. chevron right now the price is down more than exxon is up on the year, chevron to me is just a good value with a 4.5% yield. it's still up huge, but lots of growth in front. you'll be paying 11 times earnings. not 23 times earnings. charles: you know i learn something every time you're on the show.
