six years while making west virginia a safer place. this past june we saw a storm like no other we'd ever experienced before. the derecho left a record 688,000 homes and businesses without electricity. volunteer fire departments, 911 centers, local officials, and the members of the west virginia national guard were there for us during those storms. and since the terrorist attack on september 11th, the west virginia national guard has deployed over 11,500 men and women overseas and we still have many members deployed today. these brave men and women continue to serve and protect. tonight one of those soldiers is with us, sargent sara yoke. sargent yoke was on a humanitarian mission to a village in afghanistan where she and her fellow soldiers came under enemy fire. because of sara's bravery she received a bronze star and a combat action badge for her service to our country. please help me recognize sargent yoke, adjutant general james hoyer, the men and women of the west virginia national guard, and all veterans here tonight. please sta

it will be around freezing but any moisture is way out in the mountains of west virginia. by around noontime to 1:00 in the afternoon anything that arrives will be in the form of rain showers. there could be a few pockets out in frederick county where there could be a few of icy spots, but really it is a mild breeze that is coming in. then the winds turned to the northwest and there will be some chilly air coming in. by wednesday, wednesday morning the temperature is back in the 20's. but no snow right around here. overnight tonight and during the early morning hours temperatures will be dipping to around the freezing mark. out in the shenandoah valley, morgantown and charlestown west virginia down into the 30's. about noon time, some plain old rain showers. there is that southwesterly wind picking up. maybe as high as 50 degrees down around fredericksburg in southern maryland. in the next seven days, some cold stuff coming in, but only with partly cloudy skies. >> georgetown rises in the ranking. we are freezing here in d.c. but the boys of summer are working in the sun.

they got snow there in berkeley spring, west virginia and the panhandle of west virginia. too. there's the gray sky over washington, reagan national at 38 degrees, a light northeasterly breeze. and we have temperatures in prince george's county now, the upper 30s, most of montgomery county is generally in the mid 30s to upper 30s. and arlington and fairfax, upper 30s to near 40 degrees. farther south it's near 40 from southern maryland from huntingtown in calvert county to charles and st. mary's and west across the river to prince william, stafford and spotsylvania. here's the view from space, we had the storm system come by last night. it didn't leave any accumulation to our north. since last night we've had a lot of cloudiness, the cloud cover still over the entire region. a little sun trying to break out now in southern maryland and in the northern neck. these are the highs expected this afternoon. fredericksburg ought to get up to 50, as well as culpepper and southern maryland. most locations peak in the mid and upper 40s. here's the temperature graph for the afternoon. a l
