the west wing is prime real estate. at v.o.a., we are very lucky. this is a booth in the basement where you can barely fit two normal-sized people inside. the thermostat, 69 fahrenheit, there were no windows to the outside world. in previous decades, they had two chain smokers in that booth. i can't even imagine these days. how tiny the white house actually is, especially the west wing, that is the most surprising thing about it. also, conversely, we cannot roam around all parts of the white house. there is a space on the north lawn that we can be outside the west wing to do the tv standups. we have the press briefing room. we can go to the press secretary's office. we can't go into the oval office. unless you are escorted by the wranglers, as they are called for the pool. we can go out on the south lawn when marine one is taking off and landing. we have no access to any cafeteria. this is the levity area. a table with a couple of vending machines that are right next to the bathrooms. that's where a lot of people eat their lunch if they don't have a
