we have storms on going in parts of western in central iowa. we have had clouds overhead and there are peaks of sunshine in western iowa. the atmosphere is not stable enough for the storms to keep going. it will be the main cold front along the western iowa order. storms and we do have potential for some of the storms to be on the strong side. the storm prediction center and the risk is low for the overall storms. there could be some stronger storms with strong gusty wind and possibly small risk goes down in southwest iowa and down into kansas and parts of missouri where there is a tornado watch right now. there have been confirmed tornadoes in parts of kansas this afternoon. for us, we will see the rain move in after 7:00. by 7:00 it will enter the western counties and move through. once again, some storms could produce strong wind that could potentially get up to 50 miles per hour or so as they move through. they will continue through the overnight hours. we will gradually start to clear out and try out by morning. by the morning commute on f

you can see over western iowa the skies have cleared. it is down to sioux city in carol. we will have a good hard freeze. in our forecast it is the cloud cover. it's clear across the central and western part of the state. that's the clearing that will be coming later on tonight and mean temperatures in the upper 30s. for that reason we have a freeze warning in effect. the only counties not involved are cder and washington counties. even their temperatures will be close to freezing by tomorrow morning. widespread frost is expected and it does appear that are northern and western counties have the best chance of coldest temperatures. a hard freeze is a possibility up that way. anyone in the dark blue counties if you , it's a good idea to cover them up or bring them inside. as far as the timing, right on the many as far as when we see our first frost in eastern iowa. it's normally around october 10 through the 15th. we are running where we should be as far as the frost coming into eastern iowa. because that will move east and as we go through the nighttime hours is starts to

the better chance for strong to severe storms is in the orange area in south western iowa and parts of missouri and kisses and nebraska tomorrow. for us, we will see some thunderstorms increasing. i think because we have cloud cover it will limit the heating the afternoon. that will not be supportive of thunderstorms. we could see one or two. the better chances to come in the evening after five or 6:00. the main concern will be for strong winds that accompany some of the storms. as this activity moves through on late thursday by friday morning around the community -- commute we will try it out and the nice weather will move in. i'm keeping an eye on the potential for heavy rain of these thunderstorms could produce heavy rainfall. there is a concern for flooding especially with of height -- highway 20. we had a break from rainfall for a week or two now so that's good news but any rainfall that amounts to over an inch or two could cause problems. half an inch to an inch is expected areawide. we talked about this cool down so tonight temperatures will fall close to high of 60 degrees. it'

arizona, and utah where republicans have improved their position in some of the mid western battleground states of iowa ohio, for example. is there a demographic trend behind these numbers? >> yeah, that's a great question. to some extent, what you see in early voting is a reflection of time and money. yes, this is reflective what could be one of the most important outcomes of the elections, which is that the sun belt and the rust belt are switching places. if you go back to 1992, the democratic share of the vote in all of the rust belt battle grounds, overall, over the six elections, is higher than their share of the vote in any of the sun belt battle ground states. but where trump is so strong on the blue collar whites, and is struggling among minority voters and white collar whites who are in many cases are the dominant electorate like in virginia and colorado, you are seeing a big shift. in states like virginia and colorado have moved off the board they're all tilting towards hillary clinton. and you're seeing other sun belt states, like georgia, especially arizona, come within reach. and this is a
