so, the willamitte river system is a big river system in western oregon, and i think of it as oregon's big river, because it really flows through our biggest cities and our richest farmland. i think in oregon, and nationwide, there's still a question in people's mind, "what--what's the value of a river?" and we've just gone through a couple of centuries of kind of disconnecting ourselves from rivers, and we're in the process of sort of getting back to that. so, my main motivation for this film was to really shine a light on what's really a national movement to reconnect to our rivers, and to begin to restore them. i hope that people will see in this film, um, lots of examples of how you can sort of identify yourself as living in a watershed, and living in a community of people that are connected by water. the choices that we all make in our different parts of that watershed affect each and every person. >> we are so lucky in portland to have the willamitte river. i mean, we're the bridge city. there are so many bridges, and people cross them to go downtown, and, um, i bet a lot of peop

so you're getting some rain out in western washington and western oregon. but for us, it's just dried up before it even thinks about getting here and plunges over the top of the rockies, dry and mild weather all woke next week. in fact the computer models that go out a couple of weeks with some degree of accuracy and at least give you an idea and a large scale sense of what the atmosphere is going to do. there's nothing coming in. there's nothing between now and new year's day. at all that even suggests we might get rain. it looks like dry until the beginning of 2014. winter solstice was this morning. at 9:11. that manes more sunshine in more ways than one. the days will be longer. tomorrow's just a few seconds longer than today. in terms of daylight house. and no rain in sight and there's the headlines it's a dry week ahead. overnight lows tonight will be down to 35 in santa rosa. 36 at fairfield and 36 degrees at napa. 41 in san jose and 42 at mountain view. and here's how we look for daytime highs tomorrow. we're above average. about three to six degrees

oregon. it is highest for portland. coming up on 0.4 of an inch. we'll get a lot more than this. this will go. what i want to point out as we look closely around western washington is note that areas in the dead center middle don't seem to be getting much rain fault. that's where seattle the city is. it's coming from the west-north-west and as it bumps into the range, it lifts up, and goes around. it creates a shadowing, and dries up. it's rain into the cascades. it's soggy. we are starting to get the snow level from 6,000 feet, down to as low as 500 feet as we get into early monday morning. temperatures now 53 for seattle. brace yourself. in the day's ahead we'll see the difference. wind gusts up to 30 miles per hour. we'll continue to get stronger gusts through the night into the morning. 50-60 miles per hour. it's common in the mountains, building in the evening, in the lowlands. arctic air blasting in. boy, it is blasting in with the wind and golder temperatures. snow has been falling in the continental divide. your low temperatures tonight may not look too chilly right now, but the highs tomorrow significantly cooler into the 40s for many us. tue
