young people here, whether we want to be a city that wants to continue to attract the creative classere, creative whether they are raiders or tech folks. the reason why so many people come is because we have those cultural resources including nightlife. if we continue on the path where we are which is to put continuing pressure on that and making it more harder and more complicated and more expensive for anyone to offer nightlife to our city, we are going to suffer in the long run and we'll become a beautiful and very quiet city and very peaceful for everyone but it won't be the interesting place that it is today. on the san francisco political spectrum of either liberal or more liberal or really liberal on one of those scales, by the san francisco standards i'm probably considered a fairly law & order kind of guy. i'm probably not by natural standards but by city standards. i think when it comes to nightlife, we view it too much from a law enforcement perspective. although law enforcement is a critical stakeholder in nightlife policy, i think law enforcement is playing too dominant

and this is part of the burden that all of our cities, whether it's oakland or san francisco are facing, is that we've got to help our ridership get around the city for very necessary transportation needs that they have. and, so, john, if you're here, you can talk a little bit about the preparations that we're doing to get people around here. i know scott wiener is also engaged with public -- his ridership and the small businesses in his district as well. john. >> thank you, mayor. as the mayor said, we are prepared to do everything we can. in particular, our plan includes beefing up transit service in key corridors, in particular the balboa park area which means extra trains on the j line, extra service along the mission corridor which we saw last time was heavy. we're also -- some of the things that we learned from our first experience, we will in the afternoons, for example, increase the hours that we have, parking control officers to help with traffic flow to and from the bridge and along the key downtown streets. we will also expand the casual car pooling areas down there to help p

adopted a counter commission and the green building code and at first it was discretionary whether the cities used it or not and so we continued with our method and tried to incorporate. and now it is currently, in effect and so there is a green building code in california. and so we have moved our ordinance out of the building code and it is now in the form of for the cal green and it is the san francisco amendments of the california green building code otherwise known as the san francisco green building code and we have the mechanical amendments and code, and plumbing code. and the building amendment. and we have a special thanks to the department of environment and there is a huge amount of work in doing that transition. they spearheaded that he have fert in establishing the ordinance in san francisco and carrying it forward and there is not a lot of changes to the green building code in structure. and we have tried to do all of the most restrictive items because we have carried forward and we do all of the items and in addition to that we do the things that the san francisco ordinance app

time you turn around, every time you guys turn around and look at what's being expanded in this city, whether it is this or it is the city's tech firm portfolio, it's on the back of communities of color. do you know where the hub is for all of the generation of all of the server farms and stuff like that? that's in bayview hunters point. so, all the server farms and the big digital lines so that you can process your cell phones and everything is right there in bayview hunters point and it's not another facility in the city like that. and they have diesel generators that carry like tons of diesel fuel right in bayview. and yet we are insufficiently trained and insufficiently accessed -- you know, these tech firms. and, so, here we are. we're doing this and are we going to stand to make sure that we give the best opportunity for san franciscans to engage in this and make sure since this is such an expensive city to live n we create living wage jobs for these people so that they can. cu ~ that's what i'm about. if it's about what these recs matter in term of your, you know, what your goals are,
