but i grew up in a family in southern california, whittier, california where my mother was an a teacherhat richard nixon's hometown. >> it sure is. i was going thigh school through water gait and stuff, that was verynteresting. and i, and my mother was an art teacher and i was surround by the arts. and i drew all the time and we have fantastic art departments departments in my junior high andigh school. and when i was a freshman in high school i read i book on how walt disney made animated films. and it dawned on me, wait a minute, people actually make cartoons for a living? that's what i want to do. and i was so blessed to be in this family because my mom always thought the arts was a noble profession. and so i went to, after graduating high school i went to, in the very first year of the character animation program at the california institute of the arts. and it was this amazing program that taught the disney style of animation where they brought all these great disney animators and artists out of retirement to be our teachers. we didn't really think about it at the time, but we were

last night in whittier police got a call someone had hijacked a stretch hummer limousine.ke was pouring out of the limo during the chase but then things get even stranger. the limo turns into a neighborhood and the carjacker bales out naked. he continues on running with his hands up for a short distance before a police dog subdues him. that suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment. >>> in australia this morning, thousands of gallons of fuel go up in flames. surveillance video at a gas station shows the fire surrounding a tanker truck which was delivering fuel at the time. fortunately -- rather, unfortunately, the driver suffered major injuries. he was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. there were reports of lightning in the area, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation. >>> much more ahead on "today in the bay." still to come, the raiders will try to keep their playoff hopes alive against -- well, who are they playing today, rob? hepackers.rs. yeah, it's a tough matchup. details next. ♪...my true love gave to me... six geese a-laying.

nelson rose has written several books and hundreds of columns, a distinguished senior professor at whittieraw school in california. professor rose, thank you for joining us. >> thank you for inviting me. >> no new laws have been passed, no old ones repealed. so how did the landmark change come about? >> well, there was one law. the unlawful internet gambling enforcement act was rammed through congress a couple years ago, actually by conservative republicans designed to outlaw internet gambling, and it may have accidentally legalized it, because it's got an exception for gambling that is 100% within a single state. if it's legal in a state. the department of justice had always said the wire act makes all forms of gambling illegal, and even if the wire just happens to go into another state and come back, it is illegal. and on friday they issued a kind of christmas present to the legal internet gambling community saying, no, no, we don't care if the wire crosses into another state, as long as it is all the better or the operator in one state and we only care about sports betting anyway. >> the
