live in downtown baltimore, christian schaffer, website whoib schaffer -- abc2 news. >> hundreds had to be evacuated from the johns hopkins medical building. >> a dozen people got sick. we have the latest on this hazmat situation. >> reporter: at this point they're not sure exactly what touched off the situation here at this building here in hampden. here's what we do know so far. this happened just before 10:00 this morning. one person, city fire crew were called here. one person said they were ill. when the crews got here, when ems got here they found several people were sick. 10 people were taken to the hospital, problems with breathing. they're trying to figure out what was going on. they still haven't determined it. in fact, they tested the building for everything. >> we checked the hear for carbon monoxide, oxygen levels, hydrogen sulfide, hydrojen cyanide. currently our hazmat union notes are checking for any type of hazardous materials that their specialized equipment could pick up, which could be a wide array of things and we have the capabilities. >> reporter: they went flo
