we're in a neighborhood called wildwood manor. it certainly has earned its reputation. everywhere you go, people have a story to tell. in the wildwood neighborhood two trees took down power lines, snapping a utility pole, blocking traffic. when pepco crews arrived to assess the situation, the first thing they had to figure out is how to get to the pole and then the caravan of trucks took an alternate view. >> he said it's worse in the area, they thought, but, you know, people are conditioning this is a danger, you know, could fall on somebody. they think maybe some wires might become live, you know, hurt somebody. with dozens of traffic signals still dark, maryland state troopers joined montgomery county police directing traffic. at busy intersayses at democracy and old georgetown. in silver spring, the neighborhood around the manor country club was hit hard by the high winds. downed trees and power lines block streets. diana had four trees go down. despite numerous calls to pepco, she says there has been no reaction from them. >> we'll call and then we'll call back a f

most of the stores at the wildwood shopping center are closed now. cvs rung on a generator and so is balducci's. blue mercury spa is open despite not having power. they're having to post credit card purchases by hand. >> we came in saturday morning and have had no power but we've been open every day since. we're plugging along and trying to make the business work without power. >> the chevy chase supermarket is also closed. it lost all of its frozen food, and dairy products. >>> the grocery store donated a large generate tor the lockwood house. it's a senior citizens complex that's been without power since friday. the generator will stay there until the building has its power restored. >>> the d.c. fire department looking into claims that firefighters filled a private swimming pool while other crews scrambled with weather-related emergencies. the pool is behind a town house on 55th street northeast. firefighters said an engine had to make two trips on saturday to deliver 1,000 gallons of water for a pool that's big enough for at least ten adults. new

. >>> residents in wildwood manor are still in the dark as well. a pepco supervisor told them a crew would try to come by last night but that didn't happen. a utility poll is still dangling over damaged lines. some 2,000 customers in that area without power according to the outage map. in chevy chase, owners of a family-run grocery store say they lost a huge chunk of their merchandise. they lost power friday. the brothers who owned the market tried to save food that spoils but eventually they had to toss it all out. the 60 people who work there have had to deal without getting paid. the owners say they are determined to recover and hope to reopen soon. >>> power crews are making significant progress as they continue to work nearly around the clock. there are still about 50,000 people in our area in the dark tonight. pepco says it has restored power to 90% of customers who lost it during the storm. but, it's workers still have nearly 31,000 customers to go. dominion has under 12,000 outages, down from 1 million over the weekend. bg and e is working
