tracee wilkins joins us now live from suburban hospital in bethesda with more. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. of course, this is exciting news and for anyone who had a loved one experience a heart attack already one that has been in the presence of someone who is experienced one you understand that you have just seconds to make this thing right. in montgomery county they tried to have people taken to the hospital within an hour and a half from the time they call 911 until they arrive and are in the surgery room. they want that to be an hour and a half. well in the past, it has taken them about 75% of the time to get that right. now they are doing it 99 to 100% of the time. all because of this new tool. heart attacks happen in minutes. and for those who are lucky enough to recognize what's happening, the time between when you call 911 and actually arrive at the hospital is critical. and shouldn't be wasted. >> decrease in time saves lives. >> reporter: updated ekg is now capable of transmitting heart rhythm data and vital signs to the hospital. the pati
