this happened just after midnight along connecticut avenue near dupont circle. news 4's tracee wilkins is live on the scene with more about this. good morning, tracee. >> reporter: good morning, joe. we just got an update from police. they're saying the man involved in this incident is in critical condition. he suffered a major head injury after holding on to a cab, according to police. let me show you what it looked like earlier. this is how they're describing the situation. they're saying a man who was with some friends tried to hail a cab. the cab driver kept going as the man held on to the doorknob of the cab, and he was dragged for a little while before he let go and then critically injured himself. because of this, police are saying at this point it looks like it's not going to be considered an incident or an accident. it's not going to be considered a hit and run either because the cab -- >> well, we apparently lost that audio from tracee wilkins out there. she's on the scene of that accident that occurred on connecticut avenue. once again, a man apparently grabbed onto a taxica

it happened just after midnight along connecticut avenue near dupont circle. news 4's tracee wilkins is live on the scene with more on the investigation. >> good morning, joe. let me show you what the scene looks like here over my shoulder. this is happening now. police are trying to figure out exactly what happened, but we're told it appears that someone was trying to hail a cab and decided to take hold of the cab, possibly the door, and that cab driver took that person for a ride. the person fell off of the cab and injured himself pretty seriously and was taken hospital. they are now checking him out to make sure that he's going to be okay after what happened out here. now, the question is why would something like that happen? the cab driver kept going, fleeing the scene after this happened. so police are also looking for that cab driver as part of this investigation. taking a closer look at what it looks like up there, this is on the approach from "k" street to dupont circle. so they do have the ramp that leads you to dupont closed at this time. they're waiting for major crimes to

friday's shooting happened near the ellipse on constitution avenue and 16th street. tracee wilkins is live where the shots are fired with the latest on this developing story. tracee, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, eun. there is a warrant for this man's arrest. it seems like every federal agency is looking for him, including secret service. they have plenty of questions for this man. the shooting that happened on friday happened here at the corner of 16th street and constitution. the white house is just over that way, and just yesterday bullets were found on white house grounds. here again is the suspect police are looking for. park police have a warrant out for 21-year-old oscar ortega hernandez. they believe he was responsible for firing shots near the white house on friday. witnesses reported the shots being fired here, as i said, on constitution and 16th around 9:30 p.m. the secret service, u.s. park police, and a number of other police departments responded to the scene and found a car with evidence inside, including a semi automatic rifle that was traced back to orte

inner loop of the beltway near the georgia avenue exit is finally open again after a deadly accident closed the highway for several hours. news 4's tracee wilkinss live on the scene now with the latest. tracee, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, eun. all lanes are open between georgia avenue and connecticut avenue. the highway administration met their goal with having this road open by 5:30 a.m. they're still investigating this accident, though. so they have moved everything over here to the shoulder. and that includes the tractor trailer here that was involved in the accident. i want to get your attention here on the rear bumper of the tractor trailer here. this is called the rear underride bumper. you can see from that bumper just how bad this accident was. that's the bumper that prevents vehicles from going under the tractor trailer. and as you can see, in this accident, that bumper was completely destroyed by what happened here. we spoke with the driver of this tractor trailer who tells us that he was driving from west virginia to the v.a. hospital, makes this trek monday through friday, is used to actually slowing down at the constru
