so much for that reporting and the dummy reports of william blue cross joins me now in the studio. welcome williams. so we've heard a bite and president biden speaking today, making some very pointed references to what's going on in the world right now, as well as overseas memorizing. what happened a few years ago, tell us more about what he said and what stood out for you. the presence of mind continued with, i've seen that's really been part of his administration, which is this idea of democracy's versus autocracies, or democracies versus authoritarianism. it's a very simple and simplified narrative that de day really helps him with because dd the moment itself, the historical event, was a moment of good versus evil of as we heard hundreds, you know, 150000 soldiers going basically walking into a wall of bullets to liberate europe, and that is an incredible, you know, sacrifice to think about. but if we zoom out, it's, of course, a much more complicated picture, the democracies that we talked about, even back then we're also colonial empires, right? the british, the french, we saw

william blue cross here in the studio. and william a big speech and a historic location. what stood out to you from what we heard from joe biden today? it was shorter than i thought. and she didn't have any real one liners. i would really expecting some kind of, you know, take away sound bite that something very easily quotable, somebody like what we heard in the state of the union. we didn't hear a lot of that today. he waved in and out. we kind of heavy historian and chief with the, with the president, kind of which is something kind of become a thing for joe biden. recently, he was at the us holocaust memorial and much of his speech. there was just kind of giving a history lesson about the holocaust. so he's this has become a pattern for him of a spending a lot of his, of his talk time. literally just going through historical facts, which of course, 80 years later of since the day a bite and probably sees is very important cuz it's become, it's been so much time that it's actually important just to remind people of what actually happened that in itself is a political s

i'm joined now by my colleague william blue cross. he was listening and analyzing the words of the us president, when it's good to have you here. it was clear who he was talking about, but just to whom was the us president speaking? i think here to key audiences. americans at home is european allies on this side of the atlantic, trying to remind americans in an election year, obviously to vote for him. but from his perspective to defend democracy because of course, joe biden is basically pitched himself as the defender against the likes of donald trump for the way of the americas american way of life. that's what he was talking about in a speech he didn't outlined very specifically what he said he was talking about these big themes of democracy, freedom, liberal values, but then of course, a skittish european public in europe, the allies, european counterparts. trying to make the case that america is not going anywhere that just as american storm to beach is to free europe 80 years ago. they will stand up in a, in an equivalent. i'll

i suppose it's the w william blue cross gave us his analysis. generally debates are not the biggest thing that voters are looking at when determine their candidates, especially in recent election cycles, which have become more, more polarized. and people tend to make up their minds and not really be able to change them. that said, as we know these elections are extremely close, they come down to not just swing states, but swing counties. so even losing a few 1000 votes here and there, because of the debate could be a massive change could, could call it for the president, whoever over the next candidate will be. well, one fact that does remain is that americans poll after poll are massively, i'm interested in either candidate. we're talking a lot about how joe biden is, is unfavorable among americans. but donald trump is not well liked either of these or 2 candidates that nobody, i should say nobody but a lot of people just don't want. and yet the way the us system is set up. these are the candidates you're left with. so you have blue cross stats
