this one is republican empire written by william jennings bryan. very delicate. illiam jennings bryan and his signature and this is part of his personal library published in 1899. in this book is one of our more valuable books because of its provenance. this one is called nebraskans about nebraska life and these are nebraskans. part of the territory of nebraskans. this was owned by j sterling norton. and he gave it to the father belonged to him in 1872 and it was donated to our collection. this is from his library in nebraska. so this is one of our more valuable pieces and one of our earlier pieces. this book is a little book early poetry. some of the details that make this book valuable the gold on the outside and it has a lot of pictures and things. and also it is representative of the early works of 1st nebraska settlers. and so this is really valuable in understanding the heritage and the settlement and the trials and tribulations. in nebraska authors with the finest someone who is either born here educated here. the university and someone who has lived here f

hester: william jennings bryan is probably most famous for the fact that he was nominated by a major party three times, the democratic party, but he lost the election all three times. he moved to lincoln in 1880 7. he was a lawyer in central illinois. he had a law practice in central and illinois and he went into kansas to collect some debts. he stopped in lincoln to visit an old friend from a law school in chicago. and he saw where lincoln and the state of nebraska, which was just booming, he saw a weak democratic party, so he sought some opportunities there. there started construction of this house in 1901 and he and mary would drive out into the country in a buggy and they fell in love with the hill that the house was built on. construction was started in 1901. it took two years to build it they moved in in 1902, and construction was finished in 1903. 11,000 square feet. mrs. bryant's budget was $10,000. she may have spent as much as $17,000. it's a beautiful house. the main area was used for political events, receptions etc. they would host a number of even world leaders would co

william jennings bryan was initially for ban on both sides, which he argued with some justification was true neutrality. if you're going to be neutral you should not lend to either side. there was pressure from business, from banks which did want to lend, and the people they probably were going to lend to were the allies. the state department was also in favor of making loans to the allies. by the late fall of 1914, wilson had ordered the state department and brian to make it possible to make it possible for the allies to borrow in the u.s. this was tilting towards the allies. the loans to the allies were going to increase steadily to the point that by 1917, united states mostly private interests had lent $7 billion to the allies. wilson facilitated it. the war had a favorable impact on the united states because the allies were in a great position to order a great amount of war material from the united states. the war also gave the opportunity for american business to begin to move in on markets that had been the preserve of the british or the french. in many ways, the war was an econom
