the english course under scrutiny focuses on works of poets such as jeffrey chaucer, william shakespeare, john milton and t.s. eliot. a senior at yale, zachary young. great to see you. thanks for coming in. why are you against the petition that yale is now fielding? >> sure. i think two primary reasons. i disagree with the idea. i think we should judge works we teach english major based on historical significance and merits. but second i also disagree with tactics. when you disagree with your professor, best way to approach it not create 160-person petition and accuse them of being unethical if they disagree with you. deirdre: fair point. the authors, poets have had a tremendous influence on essentially western civilization and the works that have come out of that. so i take your point on that. but how much support are you feeling from your students? how much support are you getting from the university? >> sure. well so far there just been a petition. it was announced over the summer, so, we're not on campus to see what the breakdown is. i think though there are a lot of students who pro
