nice to see williams-sonoma beat on the revenue side.in, this is the second quarter report for williams-sonoma. let's bring in lauren simonetti, and you're obviously at the post right now. what are you seeing? >> reporter: right. up until moments ago the stock halted, now it's down 1.2%, it has reopened. the earnings came out at 2:30, and we did have a crowd here just moments ago. the other story we're talking about after that unexpected news, cheryl, is this is the audio chip maker that did get an upgrade to buy, and this is one of the reasons why. the analysts are saying voice technology is becoming a critical part that users are going to come to expect in the future in their wearable devices and their apple devices. but even going beyond apple, they're saying that you have to look at voice cancellation and voice recognition technology. this is a new market. so these shares are up sharply and with that, of course, we're also watching apple shares which at last check were up a little bit as well. cheryl: all right. thank you very much,

container of pepper at williams-sonoma what.ou're getting any anecdotal pushback on the pricing over there. >> in fact, williams-sonoma wre mizes the problem and the gross margins were weak and they were weak because they got more promotional at pricing. predominantly at the williams-sonoma brand, a little bit less at pottery barn. i think they're looking at their prices. >> isn't there a brutal price war on kitchen wear at the moment? >> kitchenware with good brands are available all over the place. kitch kitchenaid gadgets at walmart, all over the retail landscape. it's not as exclusive as it used to be. >> lalaura, what would your adve be for management here? reacting to trends. expecting perhaps there's some change in consumer behavior at play. >> williams-sonoma, the core kitchen brand, used to be truly innovative. they brought lecreuset to the united states for the first time, stemware and cookware that the u.s. had never seen before. now that the globe is flatter and we see products sooner and from all sorts of smaller re

williams sonoma were supposed to report earnings after today's "closing bell". they are looking into what happened. williams. >> ma quarter two, 49 cents beats the average estimate. sales coming in $982 million that beats the average analyst estimate as well. the forecast is interesting they see quarter three coming in at 21 to 54 cents a share that falls shy of the average analyst sma estimate of 55 cents. >> thanks very much. joining us now in our "closing bell" exchange. andre, you know, we do have these still the threat, just as it was yesterday of a possible western strike on syria. why do you think besides the energy stocks anything would be rallying today if they sold off yesterday? >> i think intraditi day is har tell. yes there are issues in the middle east. we've had experienced them in the past. the market will get past this. and we'll start focusing on what matters which is the economy still improving, are earnings still growing and i think the answer to those are yes. >> any fundamental rallies? >> i think for long term investor that is what matters

william sonoma had a bread maker that cost $279.sn't selling, so they introduced a second bread maker at $429. sales of the original $279 bread maker doubled. so is it that we like choices or isn't there something still to simplicity? those are only two options there. >> right. i love the williams sonoma story. there's another lesson you can draw from it. when we're shopping, we don't know what anything should cost. we don't know the real value of bread makers, certainly i don't. so we use clues that the stores offer us in order to determine, okay, what is a fair price and what's a good story i can tell? with the breadmaker story, why i love that so much is obviously no one knows what it should cost. so by framing it, by framing the $280 bread maker as seeming like a deal, it gave people a reason. that's what choices do. they can frame the metrics we're shopping for. if you're in the best buy and looking at a television, what are you looking for? size, clarity, maybe brand. having options heightens distinctions between these choices
