willie brown, i know you like your own looks. let me talk with you, mayor.loated this idea that seems to be getting traction. what's the case for a cuomo replacing biden on the ticket? >> well, first and foremost, you should know i was a great supporter of his father and sorry on the tarmac of new york when he didn't get on a plane and go up to new hampshire back in 1992 and run for president. he's been out to california in his old days, supporting everything that we've didn't out here. i think his son is an appropriate and fitting person for the national ticket. i frankly thought initially that it would be 2016 before we would see mr. cuomo on the ticket. now with biden, and hillary exiting, not interested in the vice presidency, i think it's totally and completely natural, and i don't think it's the flavor of the month. it's the one component ever the weakness in the current administration's efforts to be re-elected, and that's to bring the young people back. bring the more thoughtful people back on the independent side of the ledger and to bring the gay a

i think willie brown will weigh in as well. we will have that in a moment. first, topping our news, a dramatic rescue caught on tape. that's after two tourists slipped and fell partially down a cliff. a share stopper used ropes to pull them up. this is off the southbound lanes of highway one near stinson beach at around 7:00 last night. a couple sitting on a rock posing for photos slipped and tumbled down the cliff. they ended up 150 to 200 feet down next transported them into the hospital. he had critical injuries. the woman is in stable condition and witnesses helped direct traffic away from the scene and helped medical responders treat the tourists. >> now for a little local news with an international twist. the weather for two grads say they may be released within a week. >> the hearing was held this morning on the second anniversary of the day that shane bauer and josh for tall were caught. they were a rest along with a c on say while hiking along the border. one was released last september. now, there were hopes that the two men would be set free today

willie brown actually made his name by going and trying to see one of the homes. it was a very political thing. he would walk up with a whole bunch of people in the person showing the home would sneak away. >> even in the teens, there were a lot of neighborhoods that had restrictions against certain groups of people. >> this was in the 1950's. willie mays had trouble buying a house in san francisco. a couple of people would not show him a house. they had to enlist the mayor and a bunch of people. this is their reservoir. companies would take a block and there would start wrecking houses. there were building two a day -- they were building two with a. the 1930's were the big boom times for the sunset. >> this is a recession. >> these are the homes in west would park. -- in westwood park. >> how did this perform? the composite the assembly -- come's assembly -- composite assembly. >> they would stucco it. they would put chicken wire on it. >> when i inspect buildings that are being remodeled, i see that the chicken wire mesh is completely gone. >> it is galvanized.

that's where we turned to political former mayor willie brown and political writer joe guerra fawley to talk about gay marriage. we wanted to know, should president obama being nervous about gay marriage being on the ballot in 2012 when he is up for reelection? >> should he be nervous about this? >> i think so. he has been nervous about the issue for a long time. is your call, when they brought him out to california in 2003/2004, he was concerned about being photographed. in downstate on the way, it would be a problem. just think of how he now perceives it as a problem at all of those states as he goes toward 2012. >> you have done the math on this. what do you see? >> there is 104 electoral votes. he needs to win the states. these are states that either have a prohibition against gay marriage or are going to vote on a baxter. the issue is hot. he doesn't have the numbers. >> when you say he doesn't have the numbers, what do you mean? >> if this is on the ballot, it could bring a turnout of people against him for you. >> what about the other side? >> that's where they got an incredib

involved in public life in san francisco, i was appointed as the predecessor to this board by mayor willie brown back in 1996. back then, the budget was much smaller. that the mission was just as important. in the two or three years i served on the board, and then as city attorney, were muni happens to be my largest client, i cannot tell you how much i appreciate the work that the organization does. scott talk a little but about his experience -- talked a little bit about his experience. to me, that is what it is about. to have the stick to it of this -- sticktoitiveness to stick with an organization. i cannot imagine a better addition for this organization. we have had the opportunity -- i've had the opportunity to volunteer working for him on neighborhood cleanups, and i see how much he cares about san francisco, in respect of of hi role. he has the leadership skills, the drive, the vision, the people skills to take muni to the next level. i want to congratulate him on his new position and the mta board on a truly inspired selection. i know he is going to inspire nothing but confidence in the

mayor willie brown said that it was important invest in centralization. this is a conclusion we have come to over the past 10 years. unfortunately, in san francisco, unlike other organizations comparable to the city and county of san francisco or you have the two-thirds of your resources in i.t. -- where you have two-thirds of your resources in i.t., and the rest of your resources disperse in specialized departments, we've done exactly the opposite in san francisco. the vast majority of our resources are decentralized among different departments, and that has led to, i think, the frustrating situations with i.t. in san francisco, as well as the frustrations many of us have had with the department of technology. i do think that continuing to start i.t. in the way -- continuing to starve i.t. any way that we have been doing is not the way to proceed. i would suggest we not move forward with the final amounts. i think if we want the department to finish the e-mail consolidation project, the server consolidation project, bringing the enterprise contracts toge
