we were shown very cool computer graphics that led us on a virtual tour of what willie brown will look like. it is very exciting to see this, you know, brand new middle school come to life, at least in the presentation. the architects showed the kinds of finishes and colors that will be incorporated into the design. what i found most interesting was, one of the biggest messages about the design of the school was that it would incorporate elements of restorative practice and circle and sort of really facilitate conversation and dialogues based on this school district's emphasis on that. it was really very exciting. secondly, we discussed future agenda items for the committee and the meeting schedule for november and december. so the next meeting of building and grounds will be on monday, november 19th, at 6:00 and i really do urge my colleagues on this school board to come to that meeting. we will be talking about... i am sorry, number 1 6? >> you said december 19th? >> november... >> i thought that you said december. >> november 19th. >> we will be discussing 1950 mission, and other pr

and the last putting together, willie brown, and i know willie brown for years. and i said, willie, i think the majority of your homeless are mentally ill. he said majority? he said you're way too conservative. he as said the vast majority. he said if i could get them to take their medication, i could save this city millions and millions of dollars. the department of health talks about saving money, you're not saving money. you're spending all of that money and way more in police and enforcement activities. you're putting people in prison for life. and look at the guy who was put in prison who was a truck driver. they couldn't handle him because he was schizophrenic, paranoid schizophrenic. so, they put him in zoll tear i for a year. when he came out he wanted to sue the state. the state wouldn't let him. so, what did he do? he planted his 18 wheeler in the side of the state capital and cost the city $80 million. i just want to mention one more thing, and that is that i have a very dear friend who is indicted for murder in san francisco. he cut off the head of a

next time i see mayor willie brown, i will remind him it was fema.l have to name a doorway in addition to the staircase. thank you, everyone, for coming to san francisco. it is a pleasure to receive new and open up our house and to have you discuss, plan, and create relationships perhaps you do not have today among the federal and local police -- agencies working together on recovery. our city has been working hard. we have seen the future. the future is that if we're not prepared, it will not be our future. i got a glimpse of that some years ago when staff and i went down to new orleans. we have begun to realize the devastation was the result of things that could have been done there are national lessons to be learned from any major disaster across our country, what we could have done better. when i visited there those years ago, we stood at the night éovardç -- at the ninthç ward. in addition to taking pictures, we just stood there for a couple of moments. we asked ourselves, is this something we can accept? can we do something different now? whe
