our carol ericson joins us at willow grove park mall, kicking move just a few minutes, carol, good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, the opening ceremonies start at 7:00. it is already starting to get pack here, 1300 people will be walking in this, each one of them raising $2,300 a minimum. and every single one of them probably a hundred times that, including christy thorton from warminster. christy, you are like so many people, you never thought it would happen to you, and now your a a breast cancer survivor. >> yes. >> reporter: tell me about briefly your story. because a cup of years ago would you have never thought you would be walking in this. >> i was diagnosed, march, 38 years old, didn't think it would happen to me. was told i was -- i had cancer, went through chemotherapy. lost all my hair. double masectomy, reconstruction. >> all last year. >> all last year. i ended my last reconstruction was in february of this year. >> what can you tell people who are watching this or who are going through the treatment right now, because last year you decided while were you going thro

it is empty here here at willow grove park mall. that is because thousands of people who are gathered here in the name of curing cancer have hit the streets, they will raise their voices and raise awareness. the clean up crew is here kind of breaking everything down. they will put this all away, until next year but lets take a look at that video of opening ceremony. it was short, sweet, and very emotional. we heard from survivors, friends, and family members who shared memories and stories of hope and inspiration. it ended with applause, miles, big cheers, and so for 20 miles, they will walk, and walk, and walk, their travel will take them from willow grove to glenside to orland and into the city. they left here at 7:22 this morning. they will even up at the philadelphia convention center tonight. each person who is lacing up their shoes has raised at least $2,300 for susan g komen. we caught up with a small group of moms and daughters as they took off on their journey. >> we are walking this year for trudy hanson, she's a member of
