they call that the wilma syndrome. that's because when hurricane wilma hit down here seven years ago, hundreds and hundreds of cars were flooded out by the storm surge that came in. so we definitely noticed that difference. right along the highway is the highest point that overseas highway is literally the highest point of land along the keys. what we've got down here, another thing that was different that we noticed was a lot more buildings were boarded up. lot more sandbags out all along duvall street. people taking this quite seriously, even though officials in the florida keys don't believe -- they don't believe that this had is going to be a terribly significant event through here and the keys. you can see all of the buoys out there in the water behind me blowing, the water blowing in from the north now as the storm is approaching. the waves are actually approaching us here. as it gets closer we expect the storm, isaac, to be very close to us, probably about 5:00, 5:30 this afternoon, maybe 6:00. so that's going t

he's been through frances and wilma and jeanne, so he's not as scared as others there, but this is concerningents in south florida. check out this video in miami beach, or a photo sent in from south beach, miami, something that i'm sure you thought you'd never see, an empty miami beach. this was sent to us from dominic. he shot this picture here and sent it in as he was walking on the beach earlier this morning, people deserting the beach as those bands of rain make their way in to south florida. probably, don, the most dramatic video we've seen we got yesterday from our affiliate wftv. look at this video from the "freedom of the seas" cruise line ship. one passenger crazy enough to go out and challenge the wind and the rain. that ship experiencing 65-mile-per-hour heavy winds and rain. they made it back to port canaveral safe and sound, but some passengers trying to enjoy a last bit of vacation they have left. that passenger a little more adventurous than the rest. this is a small snippet of the ireports coming in. if you find yourself stuck in the eye of the storm, be careful. but we do wan

you bgo back through wilma and even katrina before it hit louisiana, did a pretty good number on south is a minor impact, about to cross over key west. still has a little ways to goy, but we have gotten heavy rain and gusty winds. one thing i don't want to forget about is how large a storm it is. it's not that intense, but it's a huge storm. we have these bands of rain with 30 to 40-mile-per-hour winds that are coming onshore and heading to central florida. you see melbourne getting their first areas of light rain. it will rain hard throughout the night in tampa and you will see winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour. it's not a complete miss for tampa although you're not going to see hurricane force winds. we have tropical storm warnings that go up tampa, up the west coast. well away from the center of the storm, you see some effects of it. again, a large sized storm. it has been throughout its life. the question is how intense will it get. the current forecast once again does keep it a category 1 hurricane, late tonight, all through the day tomorrow. notice how it slowly ramps up, 80,
