wilson walker is in sonoma county with the latest on the point fire. wilson, what can you tell us? >> reporter: the first thing is some obvious good news right over my shoulder. the skies over dry creek valley here are pretty clear. there is not much burning. this was a really good day for firefighters. winds didn't pick up. it's warm but not too hot. this was the day they were looking for. i think they made a lot of progress up there. there's been a lot of discussion about the fire we've seen so far this year sort of around california. up in sonoma we have the corral fire over by 580 a couple weeks ago and another fire in the sierra as we speak. people have been fascinated by this early start to the fire season given the fact we've had two good winters. we had rainfall that was either average or slightly above average for two straight years. we've had a couple quiet fire years. all of a sudden we have got some fires going. we talked to calfire about thiser today. why is this? why are we seeing the sudden start to the fire season with fires popping upund the state ven the fact we'v
