that is where wilson walker joins us live now with new details, wilson? >> reporter: the police confirming, i guess, sort of what we suspected it was a san francisco police officer who fired the shots, killed someone in the consulate here and we know a little bit more about the time line it was a call to san francisco police after a car went into the lobby of the sort of public access entryway to the consulate here. we are told the car went all of the way into the lobby. a call went out to san francisco police to respond to that. they came racing over here. we are told it was several minutes before the police officers arrived on the scene. again, to a car inside of the building. here, now, in the last 20 minutes or so, the police describing happened when the officers arrived here. >> reporter: officers entered, made contact with the suspect and an officer-involved shooting occurred. officers rendered aid and summoned the paramedics from the fire department. the suspect was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. this is an open and active investigation
