windchills are making temperatures feel like they are more in the 20 below range in most places.ameras in eastern massachusetts just south of boston caught this roof collapsing under the weight of all of the heavy snow. the building housed a business, all of the employees managed to get out safely. but the building as you can see there is pretty much a total loss. >> now we just checked with the three major bay area airports and found that storm really isn't causing too many problems for bay area problems today. the duty manager at sfo told ktvu that there were three arrival cancellations this morning but that everything is back to normal now. let's take a look at what's happening at maneda international, things are running smoothly there. right now flights are normal out of oakland. >>> on to our weather now, bill, we've been talking about this all week. but it's just all so remarkable. you see the weather back east and you see how remarkable our weather is. >> that's why it's so expensive. when they are cold, when they are stormy in the east we're typically warm here. when it's

it's about zero degrees, windchill of about 12 below. but lake shore drive is open and here's how we know. take a look at it. we're suspended over the drive as the cars are moving along this morning, right into and out of chicago. pavement is in pretty good shape. there's a little glazing going on but at least those cars are out of the way. take a look at the 1967 picture. we were just here last night, it looked exactly like that. amazing and the arctic cold that can get it cleared away. 24 hours after a blizzard brought chicago to a standstill, a graveyard of cars still marked lake shore drive. crews working nonstop overnight, using forklifts, bulldozers and tow trucks, digging out the last 200 stranded and abandoned cars. in less than 30 minutes, 3 accidents on lake shore drive brought traffic to a standstill. and you have to imagine the winds coming off the lake at that moment, were about 50 miles per hour and blinding snow. 900 cars stopped and covered. and some of these people weren't rescued until wednesday morning, 12 hours later.
