and it was built by winslow lewis. and the construction of the building was sub par. and it led to deterioration and soon after that it actually would collapse with a november storm in 1828. when the original tower collapsed, the need for a new tower was evident and a new location. was moved several hundred yards to the north on lake huron. and congress had appropriated $5000 to build a tower in 1828. by december 1829, the new tower was completed. and the lantern was lit in december of that year. the lighthouse played a significant role because you had mariners that were going up and down the st. clair river, a narrow channel, which was known as rapids so the water was swift. so, guiding the mariners and making sure they were in line was very important. this light provided safe habrbor for mariners on lake huron, which could prove to be treacherous in october, and november of those years. it was a very strategic lighthouse for those reasons. this lighthouses operational, fort gratiot is also operational from time to time. it's a military installation. as the needs cam

i am here at the intersection of sicklerville row and chews happening where winslow township police,he scene, of this deadly crash. police have confirmed that one man is dead, and they got a call around 4:00 a.m. this morning about a car, going at a high rate of speed, near cross keys and chews landing road. the car, a dark colored, honda accord hit a wooden pole, we are told and flipped several times, separating the front part or the hood of the vehicle from the body of the vehicle. the police say that the man was ejected from that honda, and they called it a very gruesome scene. as the fire officials now work to remove the man, and to rehave move pieces of the the car that remain. neighbors say they heard the crash and that police sirens and thought from the sound and impact of the crash, that multiple cars were involved, but this is a single will car incident and again, one man is dead, and now we spoke with winslow township police who said that camden county prosecutors will be releasing a press statement later today and they are still investigating this scene. fire officials jus

winslow, st. john, show low, and closer to the new mexico border. we're going to be drive for today in the valley but things start to change as we get going into tuesday and wednesday. we're going down south in the tropics. tropical storm hobby year. that means a lot of moisture. it is going to track toward us. the impact of hobby year far as direct hit, that will not be an issue. it will curve out to the pacific, but it will send a lot of moisture our way and help us popoff a decent amount of rain late tuesday and into wednesday. i will let futurecast role until wednesday afternoon. i do not think that we will see a ton in the valley. we have a chance for a thunderstorm on tuesday evening, but i think that the bigger story will be on wednesday morning. is is 5 am in the morning. several forecast models are trying to put down a lot of rain in the metro. this could cause big problems localized flooding. i'm not saying that it is going to be a repeat of last week, but the potential is there. we will be watching this very closely as we get going into w
