hills. you're going to be under that winter weather advisory starting at 10 o'clock monday. both set to expire by tuenday afternoon with elevations above 3,000 feet, getting anywhere from 5 to 10 inches of snow. with that slushy snow and rain mixture at the lower level. so let's take a look at these upcoming storms. the second round that's going to arrive early monday morning, lasting through monday night. and we're going to see for hills and mountains a little bit more than an inch of rain for the bay area. we're going to get anywhere from a quarter of an inch to three-quarters of an inch of rain. >> slightly lesser amounts with story number 3 on tuesday through wednesday, just about half an inch of rain or less. but the same amount for local hills and mountains. but this is going to be severe storms colder, unstable air mass making its way. that's why could see gusts upwards of 50 miles per hour with hail and even thunderstorms. if any do form. so let's take a look at radar for it. very dry, calm conditions, seeing that rain and snow mixture out there right now in our east

hills around the bay area. and there could even be a wintry mix of rain and snow down to about 500 feet, even small hail possible. so, the national weather service putting up a winter for our hills above 1,500 feet. about 1 to 3 inches of snow in those areas as this storm system drops in. and we're also going to see a lot more moisture going into tomorrow with the potential of rain and once again snow on the hills. that will continue into friday as well, even the possibility of thunderstorms, and then it looks like there's a brief break on saturday, but there will be another storm system coming in on sunday. and this rain could continue into next week as well. during this time, we're looking at the possibility over the next seven days of the areas in pink. that's 2 to 3 inches of rainfall. this could continue to add up in terms of the impacts over the next several days and even between now and this weekend where we could see sev ft of snow in the sierra. it will be chilly, off andon showers, and big-impact storms over the next few days as we continue to see reinforcing shots of this cold and windy weather. now, as we turn to our "climate in crisis," scientists a fi

there is a winter storm watch for the santa cruz mountains, as well as the east bay hills and into the north bay as well. a step up from that will be a winter storm warning, and we're seeing that for lake and mendocino counties, and we'll see rounds of rain and snow. but for the areas under the winter storm watch there's a potential of up to 8 inches of snow. that will create some dangerous travel. and then another thing that is kind of a once in a generation storm, a blizzard warning for parts of southern california, and in these areas from l.a. county to ventura, santa barbara included, as you go up in elevation, hills above 4,000 feet, you're talking about 5 to 7 feet of snow in some of those areas. so, yeah, that's going to be really making headlines. we'll be watching that. we're also going to start to see some very unusual weather here and the potential of some spotty showers. but notice the peaks and whites here. that indicates a wintery mix. we'll start to see that on the santa cruz summit, as well as mount hamilton, and we'll see spotty showers moving through some of our valle
