let me bring in wisconsin state senator john urpenbach. walker took a beating on headlines across the state. what kind of impact do you think this is going to have and do you think there's any doubt that he was involved in illegal activity? >> based on what i road so far no, there isn't but you have to start from the beginning. if an independent group runs a commercial they have to put a disclaimer on, they have to do that because collusion is illegal in wisconsin. rj johnson is both an agent in scott walker's campaign and agent of an independent expenditure. the fact we saw the governor e-mailing carl roefl talking about what was going on with the groups puts himself in the middle of it. there's no doubt that you are absolutely correct, the investigation is not over. it's ongoing and this investigation will continue to be ongoing until either charges are brought and people are indicted or the prosecutor says there's nothing here. everybody go home. we'll see what happens with that in the end. there's no doubt in my mind that governor -- t

>> well, the wisconsin club for growth is a group that's long been active in wisconsin politics. they run ads on issues affecting the state and have been very active in promoting the labor cuts that walker was responsible for. rj johnson has been a principal activist with the wisconsin club for growth. he's a key consultant togo norwalker's campaign. since walker first became governor he's been working for an outside group and for his campaign. what prosecutors are alleging is that he and deb jordahl worked to garth together money from multiple groups, the state's business lobby, a number of national groups to run efforts to help governor walker and they were aware of this. prosecutors are saying the groups are supposed to act independently but by working with the campaign they were not independent. >> senator, let me go to you. prosecutors say that under governor walker, two aides were working for both the official campaign, friends of scott walker. and that they weres also running an outside group, the wisconsin club for growth. you were involved in the recall fight. did you ha

the state law in wisconsin is very clear on this.against? >> well, we haven't got a conviction here, ed, but we have a major, major smoking gun. this is what didn't happen and the first john doe investigation which ended with six convicts of walk earn's closest aides and walker was never implicated in this illegal coordination and today we have this email from walker that he himself as the milwaukee headline says is at the center of this illegal scheme and that's what prosecutors are alleging and it's walker's own words. so that is a major, major deal. that is a smoking gun and it shows that he was talking to karl rove about coordinating the whole state of wisconsin, bringing in these millions of dollars from outside groups into the state in these little tiny races around the state and these nine districts that he lays out and this will benefit rove and the entire nationwide, right-wing republican apparatus to pour money into wisconsin to get involved in these races and that coordination is illegal and that's been the subject of this

caught the wisconsin governor's aids by surprise. it stems from a fight that occurred a few years ago when the governor tried to curtail collective bargaining rights. democrats in that state tried to run a recall election against him. they were able to do so. but in fact, walker had won. there were several state senators as well also put up for recall. what we see now is documents that were released yesterday where we have these county prosecutors in wisconsin who allege that walker and his cam pap aides coordinated with outside groups, something that would be illegal with state election law. walker we saw him go pack and say that in fact this is just a political vendetta by his campaign foes and by democrats and that is federal judge and state judge has both refused to pursue these charges. i just got off the phone with one of his top aides. they say they are ready and prepared to fight this. this is coming into an election year where we will see walker up on the ballot. if he wins in november, a lot of people think that he will run

he's now caught in this vice because of the ruling last week on gay marriage in wisconsin.n wisconsin, being against gay marriage is not going to help you, so he's tried to waffle and say his opinion isn't important. his attorney general is challenging it. he's trying to figure that out, at the same time he's losing some of his support in the "wall street journal" editorial page because he's trying to protect himself against some other things. so he's in this vice. and it will be interesting to see if he can find his way out again. >> great race anyway, but 2016 implications as well. >> one person watching eric cantor's loss closely was lamar alexander, former governor in tennessee who has got his own primary coming up. senator alexander has done a good job the last two years. his reaction of watching kantor's loss was, my race is going to be more of lindsey graham's win than eric cantor's loss, comparing himself that, like lindsey graham, she spent a lot of time in his home state. he spends over half his nights sleeping in tennessee, not washington, d.c. an aide told me af
