we heard from one witness and i know you spoke to several other witnesses. what is the mood of the witnesses right now? >> reporter: the mood of the witnesses is shock and horror right now. they are trying to account for the whereabouts of their friends and they can't find them and it's a lot of waiting and hoping and praying at this point. >> sarah, if you would wait for another minute, we are going to the law enforcement adviser for us. this is quite a scene unfolding in orlando, and we had reports of gunshot and sarah just reported more and an explosion. what is your take on the scene? >> looks like the police got there, and s.w.a.t. might have made an entry and engaged someone in the nightclub, you know, the shooter or shooters. they want to get in as fast as they can because if people are wounded in there, they want to get them medical assistant, and people are thinking the shooting is happening, and police are inside, and sometimes tactical officers have to force their way in, and they use diversionairy flashes, and flash bang entry, and you know, s.w.

it's also crucial to get information from witnesses and witness accounts. and i know that's something they're doing now, as sarah is reporting, busing these people and witnesses there to the police station to try and get -- whatever they can from them to piece this together. >> well, it is. realize, there are multiple investigations going on at the same time. as you suggest, number one, you've got the investigation with the individuals inside the restaurant that are being interviewed. either those who were not wounded and there will be officers and agents at the hospital to interthose who are wounded and able to talk. there will be a massive crime scene investigation at the bar itself, trying to identify all the forensics. and there will be yet a third and perhaps a fourth investigation as law enforcement is both working on the identity of the shooter and trying to find out everything they can about his background. and no, that's normally -- they look at his cell phone. they look at his computer. they look at his recent travels. today, you can pull the plug

so far what we're getting, we're hearing from witnesses, we spoke to one witness an hour ago to saysat shortly before 2:00 a.m. when he started hearing loud popping noises inside the club and he couldn't tell whether or not it was the music that was playing inside the club that was very loud or something else and immediately he realized it was something else when he said he started watching people around him hit the floor. he himself took to the ground, he got on the ground and he tended to someone who has been shot. he had a bandanna and he was able to plug a bullet wound with that bandanna. many people were trying to flee the scene through multiple exits of the club. he was fortunate to make it out. he did see several bodies. he didn't specify whether or not they were dead or injured. it's impossible to tell in a chaotic scene like that. there are multiple injuries here. we heard from another witness, a gentleman who works at a dunkin' donuts across the street from the club, at 2:00 a.m., he heard very loud noises, he took cover and shortly after that, he saw three or four people l

we have been witnessing a drill from joint base andrews that was reported by jba. speaking to senior law enforces, someone on the third floor of the malcolm medical facility located on this campus called in seeing someone, two people, with long guns him now the medical facility was going through with a scheduled drill. they had prepared for this. it was going to be taking place this morning. because of the seriousness of the phone call that came in, they had to switch gears and go into lockdown mode. they used facebook and twitter to update people about what was taking place will. so we got these initial reports via twitter about the fact that there was an active facility the personnel was encouraged to stay in a shelter in place and they're working on this, that then sent this trigger effect of what happened inside joint base andrews with people sheltering in place and then the security sweep of the protocol that is necessary when something like this is triggered. kind of fully going into effect. we saw military people on site with bomb sniffingdogs and other thin

a witness says he saw a car, quote, fly by him, and then heard the crash. a woman at a house next door said it was just horrible, and didn't want to go on camera, but did describe the damage. >> it's unrecognizable. it looks like it was in a car compacter. there are tires in places that are not supposed to be there, so it's amazing what the car looks like. >> reporter: a minute after the crash, this crash happened, a second accident down the street at intersection and new hampshire avenue. a black suv hit a utility pole. the driver stayed on the scene but witnesses say up to three passengers bailed out of the suv and ran away, and caught a while later and still looking for the others and police say they did find drugs in the suv so charges are possible against some or perhaps all of the people inside that vehicle. again, in terms of the location, the fact that the two accidents were so close together and the timeframe here, that has police asking questions about possible connections, but we just don't know at this point. back to you in the studio. >> megan,

this is what witnesses say happened. it's what so many of us have done so often, cross the street at a marked crosswalk when the light was green. that's exactly what witnesses say this woman was doing when she was hit and thrown 200 feet. that's more than half of length of a football field. witnesses told police the impact was so strong, the victim was first thrown up on to the car's hood, her head slammed into the wind shield and broke it and she was airborne for quite a distance. when philadelphia police got here, they say she was dead and the white or silver mini van that witnesses saw hit her had driven off. police say this has been upgraded to vehicularç homicid at this time. investigators who were out here and spoke to us say this driver will be caught. they say the vehicle involved is, again, likely a white or silver mini van, has extensive damage to it. it will likely stick out when people are looking for it. as far as the victim, she had no i.d. on her. at this time, police know she's in her late teens or early
