allyson: we are looking outside at our wofford skycam. conditions are different in spartanburg. i see the most ice on the road there and a total of six accidents the between mile marker 60 and 64. mike mccormick has more about the conditions. mike: this is the look going toward the city of spartanburg. the road is slushy. you can see the lines people have made to drive in. we see a mix of different driving styles. some people go in way too fast, sending the slush into the air. have also seen people outdoing spins to have a good time. that is not a good idea because there are clearly many people who have to be outside. we see trucks and a saw someone pulling a trailer. if you do have to get on the road, keep that in mind. there are some people flying around. the careful. i want to show you the accumulation in spartanburg. if you look at the ground, you can see where my boot thinks -- were my boot sinks in. definitely. the city pretreated them yesterday and i think that helped. right now, we have got a snow and sleet mix coming down in spartanburg. stay home if you can. yourself e

we will get a long nap this at 4:39, here is what is going on as we look out from our wofford skycam. this is a gives field looking back to the city of greenville -- city of the spartanburg, exceeds me. 30 degrees right now with a northwest wind at eight. greenberg, spartanburg, asheville, all saying -- seeing their skies. concerns are travel may be on the higher mountain roads of north carolina. recent snow and rain over the weekend or it watch out for possible icy spots. any moisture left on roads will be ice good cold temperatures as we begin the day. 15 in boone, 17 in franklin and anders, 20 in asheville. that would be cold enough. upper 20's in anderson and laurens in greenwood. let's check on a few other communities in the western part of the upstate. a lot of times, the city of the -- of pickens will be colder. 22 degrees in pickens. easily at 25. by the end of the day, we will be struggling to get temperatures and a 30's and 40's across the area. and the mountains, and feels like single digits. boone feels like minus two with gusts right now. andersonville feels like nine, gr

from our wofford skycam. currently 32 degrees. the colder air continuing to stream in from charlotte, and it's likely going to make it close to anderson, but right now you have rain there on the lake, 35 degrees. as we look at what's happeninin back up toward the north, it's becoming a serious situation with the ice, and that's going to be the concern as we head throughout the next couple of hours. you can see what was white across the greenville area, snow and sleet is now turning into freezing rain. the problem that i'm seeing here that's going to be a problem for us later on today is this batch of moisture back down toward the south. that's the heaviest stuff that's going to move through over the next three hours. after that, we'll transition over to some of this cooler weather, lighter weather. as this continues to move on through, we're going to see a lot of precipitation throughout the day that's going to make this a major storm for us. looking a little bit closer in on spartanburg county, there was some green, which is rain

in greenville, the view from our wofford college skycam. everyone is staying home on this friday night, and it is a good carol: chief meteorologist john cessarich has been tracking temperatures and precipitation all day. john, what's the latest? john: as michael mentioned, it does not take much to have fun, of snow across the area, as you can see. we will see an additiona of one inch to three inches, certainly more possible in the upstate. this is cold air now from aloft in the middle of the atmosphere, which is sinking down to the surface. we are obviously cold enough now in the 20's for the most part to see snow. now we are finally getting rid of what we call a warm nose, a warm layer that goes over the dome of colder air at the surface where temperatures were at 32 degrees or below. people are wondering, well, 28, 27 degrees, where is the snow, john? as expected, the air gets above the cold air, we have the melting in the warm layer, turns into raindrops, and then freezes on contact at the surface with temperatures belrethat is how we en

this is the wofford college and spartanburg skycam. spartanburg had 7.5 inches. a little bit of sunshine with melting on the roads. we will have a lot of melting # chris: i will show you a couple of time lapses when our computer connects again. it was dark early this morning in laurens but they had snow in some of the area. look at what happens as the sun came out. it was only about a half inch it withered away like snow here in the carolinas. by the end of the day it is gone in some locations but not others. up toward the champion hills skycam, they had snow in hendersonville pretty much all day long. that led to almost 15 inches in parts of hendersonville county. herpbt r henderson county rather. this sis where i-85 is. north of that is where the snow is south of there about a half inch. i will show you some totals. in south carolina we had hefty totals. spartan spartanburg 7 1/2. chesney seven. travelers rest seven. greer five. mountain rest four. pickens 3.1 and malden with 2. it the north carolina mountains this is where it ramped up. how much mitchell 19 in
