>> it could well have played a role, wolf. that is really a key question and we may never know the full answer to it, but the point is that he is a potential target in this investigation. the president of the united states just fired the chief investigator who has him as a the target of the investigation. if there was ever any doubt about the need for a special independent prosecutor, which i've been advocating for months, there is no question now. and let's remember that we face a looming the constitutional crisis, very much like happened in 1973, the midnight massacre. this episode has very much the feel of that chapter in our history, one that we should not repeat and that is why i will actually be introducing legislation that calls for congressional involvement of the special prosecutor because only a special prosecutor can hold accountable anyone who colluded with the russians in that attack and interference in our election system and the president himself has to be deemed a potential target. if not right at this moment,

>> well, that may, wolf. there's lots of other areas for which general flynn may face legal jeopardy. it's report that had he received hundreds of thousands of dollars from someone very close to the turkish government and failed to appropriately register or disclose that. it's also been report that had he received tens of thousands of dollars from russia today, and there are other allegations that he may have either falsified information or not been fully truthful with the trump administration as they were doing background check work on him. you know, frankly, of all the missteps of the trump administration so far, the one i have the hardest time understanding is why general anybody was allowed not just into the white house but into "the situation room," and i think there are other ways that both the congressional investigations and the special counsel-led fbi investigation can get access to documents or testimony that would be relevant in the event that general flynn is ultimately prosecuted. >> what do you

>> he really did not, wolf. you heard during those comments you played that general mcmaster, the national security adviser to the president, described the president's behavior and conduct in that meeting with the russians as wholly appropriate. but he did not answer the question and it was put to him a couple of times whether the president shared classified information during that meeting with the russians. as a matter of fact, just a few moments ago my colleague sara murray tried to ask that same question of the president as he was sitting down in the oval office with president erdogan who is hin washington. i also tried to ask the president after president erdogan was greeted by president trump at the door that leads into the west wing just about ten minutes before that oval office meeting the same question. did you share classified information. the president did not answer that question. so wolf, at this point it appears the white house is just not going to answer that question. but as we heard during that b
