wolf blitzer is off today. another, a shocking report on the secret service response to a white house fence jumper is fueling calls for major urgent changes within the agency. homeland security department found that it was a series of failures, both human and technical, that permitted intruder omar gonzales to run past agents and burst into the first family's residence in september. among the findings, an officer in charge of releasing dogs on intruders reacted 11 seconds late because he was in a van taking a personal call without his ear piece in. another officer posted outside the white house doors heard what he said was unintelligble traffic on the radio and the doors were not locked and in fact the intruder had a knife on him. joining me is michael mccaul of texas, chairman of the homeland security. looking at this report, in addition to the details i just went through there, incredible stuff and even silly things like one of the agents thought that gonzalez could not get through the bushes and as it turns

i'm jim sciutto in for wolf blitzer who is on assignment today.in jerusalem, normally the day of prayer is on friday. nic robertson is telling us there's a number of factors fueling the tensions. >> reporter: jim, tensions and security has been high throughout the day here. as night fell in one neighborhood in east jerusalem, firecrackers were thrown at security forces here. they responded with tear gas. the air in some of those neighborhoods hanging heavy with the smell of tear gas for quite a while. earlier in the day in the refugee camp, palestinian medical sources say clashes there resulted in 30 palestinians being injured by what they say were rubber bullets fired by israeli security forces. what we know about that neighborhood, that's the neighborhood where the man who drove the van into israeli border guards at the tram stop in jerusalem on wednesday. that's where he came from. we've also learned that one other person died as a result of that injuries in that attack. a 17-year-old religious student died from injuries sustained in that attac

i'm wolf blitzer reporting from washington.ussian president, vladimir putin, came face to face at a summit of world leaders in china. relations between the u.s. and russia are at a pretty low point right now, mainly due to russia's meddling in ukraine, its annexation of crimea. jim acosta reports on the brief encounters between presidents obama and putin and other highlights from the summit. >> reporter: president obama and chinese president xi will be meeting over dinner over the next few hours. they've been cutting business deals on areas where they agree and talking through issues where they disagree. the big development of the day is the president came face to face three times with russian president vladimir putin. they spoke about iran, syria and the situation in ukraine. he conceded the sanctions so far on moscow have not changed putin's behavior. the president has one more day here in china. the big remaining question is just how far the president is willing to go in criticizing beijing over its record on human rights an

i'm brianna keilar in for wolf blitzer today.giving day in ferguson, missouri, many residents there are feeling far from festive. these were the scenes from monday. buildings vandalized and looted, cars overturned, and set on fire. now some business owners are picking up the pieces of what's left of the neighborhoods, wondering if they should stay an rebuild or go somewhere else and start over. and it doesn't seem it will be any better for retailers tomorrow. protest organizers are calling for people to boycott black friday. our heart goss out to the owners of those mom and pop stores in ferguson whose businesses were looted and some burned. for them picking up the pieces seems impossible when there are no pieces left to pick up. >> when they definitely showed the helicopter when it was above west florissant, i seen the store smoking, it's over. i don't know why this was done to us. >> christina reports on how people around the nation are sending donations to help. >> as you can imagine it's an economic disaster. ferguson, of cou

i'm wolf blitzer reporting from washington. it took just two words, no indictment, for ferguson, missouri, to erupt in violence. it started only minutes after the crowd learned that darren wilson, the police officer who shot and killed michael brown, would not face charges. but we all know this has been simmering for a long time. protesters set fires and in some cases firefighters refused to put them out, afraid of becoming targets themselves. police say 150 gunshots were fired, mostly at officers who did not shoot back. incredibly, no one was hit. looters broke into stores. they hurled rocks and bottles indiscriminately. police in riot gears answered with volleys of teargas as our chris cuomo found out firsthand. >> teargas. teargas just dropped right near us. it's going to get very bad if we don't have masks. they're throwing it back. there are a lot of bean bags being shown. we'll go to susan hendricks right now so we can clear the scene. >> there were flashpoints all over the city from fires at one end of the scene to loote

i'm wolf blitzer reporting from washington.erful polar blast is putting the entire united states in a deep freeze right now. but no place is getting hammered like my hometown of buffalo, new york. in the last 24 hours alone, get this, up to six feet of snow, that's nearly two meters, has buried homes and shut down roads. at least six people have died in the storm. that number could climb as rescue crews try to reach people who may be stranded along the roadside in frigid temperatures. the new york state governor, andrew cuomo, has declared a state of emergency in the area and is holding a briefing later on this hour. a well-beloved buffalo resident is joining us on the phone. jim kelly, the legend hall of fame quarterback for the buffalo bills, one of my personal heroes, as a lot of our viewers know. jim, first of all, tell us about what you're seeing, how's your family doing? are you guys snowed? what's going on? >> yeah, we're pretty much snowed in. i'm probably five minutes away from the stadium. and we got between four and

i'm wolf blitzer in washington. we want to welcome our viewers here in the united states and around the world. i want to go right to jerusalem inside what's going on. ben wedeman is on the scene for us. ben, explain to us what happened for viewers who might just be tuning in right now. >> reporter: what happened is just before 7:00 this morning, wolf, there were around a dozen men in this synagogue in west jerusalem when these two palestinians from a palestinian neighborhood in east jerusalem burst into the room as they were praying. these men were armed with knives, with axes and we saw pictures which would indicate they also had butcher's knives as well as a 9 millimeter pistol and they started to attack these worshippers. four of them were killed immediately. and within seven minutes, the israeli police were alerted to this attack and arrived on the scene as the two attackers were leaving the israeli police opened fired and killed the two attackers. six people were injured, some of them severely in this attack, i
