wolf? >> deborah, thank you. >>> the "hartford courant" has asked the genetisist to join in. what clues, if any, can a postmortem genetic test provide investigators? >> i think very few clues, wolf. certainly this idea of finding some genetic clue as to what motivated all of this is very unlikely. a couple reasons why, wolf. first of all, there's not clear-cut genes identified with the types of illnesses, mental illnesses that may cause this sort of behavior. simply, we found a gene. therefore, it explains this, is very unlikely. i think it's very hard to put those two things together. genetic analysis can be useful sometimes if there's unanswered questions still about where somebody was or what exactly happened or if there's a sudden unusual death, like somebody just drops dead suddenly and there's no explanation. it can be helpful in those situations. but my guess is, wolf, this is not going to provide much in the way of any answers. >> i suspect you're right, too, based on what i'm heari

i'm wolf blitzer. you're in "the situation room." >>> we begin with president obama taking his battle to extend tax cuts for the middle class into the heart of the middle class suburb today. he visited a family just outside washington, d.c., using their story to dramatize what will happen in just 26 days if he and congress can't make a deal on the so-called fiscal cliff. a source of great concern for so many people, everyone's taxes will go up, will go up if there's no deal. let's go live to our white house correspondent dan lothian. he's on the scene for us over at the white house. how did it go, dan? >> reporter: well, wolf, we've seen the president do this before in the past whenever he's locked in negotiations with lawmakers. he heads out on the road, either goes to a backyard or sits down around a dinner table to put pressure on congress. that's what he did today when he went to falls church sitting down with the santana family. their parents who also are employed live in the household with them.

wolf? down with him for about an hour. there were no cameras, i take it, inside the room. give us your sense, give us your impression. what is this man like? >> reporter: well, you know, a lot of what he says is absolutely true. in fact, he told us this one story about how back in april the military authorities in belize raided his place, killed his dog, and they tried to accuse him of having a meth lab in his house. they put him in handcuffs and then released him and no charges were filed. but he says this was intimidation tactics in order to -- because he would not pay a $2 million bribe to an official there. now, the fact is, they did raid his house. i talked to authorities in belize today. they said, yes, that raid was carried out because we had information, they said, that he had weapons and drugs. they did not find any, they admitted, and that he was then let go. of course, they also denied anything about any of this bribe that someone wanted to get a bribe out of him down there. i be
