my name is dennis wong. i'm a union rep with seiu 1021 i represent the mta that includes the 8201 crossing guards who currently have 160 crossing guards who make about $25 an hour. they don't get health care benefits. they work split shifts. they only get 450 hours each year. they're often understaffed without a guard for each school that wants one. >> it's an important role that is often difficult to fill in private meetings such as the mini funding working group. no one has ever brought up eliminating the crossing school program as an alternative until last thursday february 13th. happy valentine's day. right. this was unacceptable and startling to hear. i understand that the mta is facing a huge budget deficit of 50 million this year. what do we need to still cut 15 million from the last mta board meeting? it was stated that the board wanted to see other alternatives to service cuts as an option. they considered using the 15 million from the 140 million reserves we just heard from three mta proposing cutt
